Absolutely it does.  But that's comparing Miller to the lowest common denominator.  That low denominator also had a good year, taking an unhearalded team to the Final Four.  That actually > Archie's Elite 8.

 

Yes I'm an Archie skeptic.  I don't think one good run = promise for future success.  I've heard that before with the Crean hire.  I'm hoping for the best but am also not as optimistic as some.  Maybe that leads me to dismiss some of the things that get others excited.  My expectations based upon results are not high, but I'm hopeful.

Understandable. What I take is that he doesn't quell on the excuses he could've used and make the best of what he has available. Hell, he won the A-10 last year after a member of their team DIED. Crean may've held a 6 month vigil and forfeited the season if God forbid something that tragic happened to anyone on IU's roster. Like Fleek has just posted, the next recruiting class will be very telling as to his long term future at IU. This year with a decent but not great roster he can flex his muscles and adaptability as a coach. He and his staff's ability to recruit 'inside-out' will determine his and hopefully IU's greater ability from 18-19 and beyond.

I have no doubt that he's better than Crean.  That's like comparing a brownie to a turd.  But does this brownie have frosting on the top?

Archie took a team with 6"6 post players to the Elite 8. He will figure out how to use guys like Mcswain. Plus, Priller may be able to be used next year.

CAMs Dayton team that made the elite 8 had players taller then 6'6 it was his team the next year that won a first 4 game and a first round game that didn't have a player taller then 6'6

Regardless of what round he got to that was still a very impressive thing to do with a limited roster.

There is not one similarity between the two other than being coach at IU. Look we didn't hire Gregg Marshall. I know that bums you out. Not sure why but it has. Why not give the guy a chance at this point? We tried getting you to watch his games in January. The one half where you brought up you knew he wasn't the man they came back to win on the road against the 2nd best team in the A-10. I don't know man. Just seems like sour grapes due to it not being Marshall at this point and hoping he fails so you can tell everyone you told them so.

Of course not at the end of the day whoever would of gotten the IU job would have to do the same thing as CAM will have to do in the future.......win. But for me he has started out his time at IU the right way and for the current players to stay on board is a great start

Nothing would have been guaranteed no matter who the coach is. At this point I am in agreement with his recruiting philosophy and like how the players have responded to him in the media. I don't know. At this point I am very happy with the start of this. All he has to do is win.

Wade was a 3 star mostly due to him having terrible grades so he wasn't recruited as highly. However that team had some nice upperclassmen with some bonafide NBA talent in Wade and Novak. They also won their conference so unheralded is probably not the right word.

I saw a stat when he was hired that clinched it for me.

Dayton had been to the NCAA Tournament 4 times in 30 yrs. Archie led them to 4 in his short tenure. To me that shows he can coach. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me. I posted that States off memory.
