Like I already said I disagree. If you truly learn from something you grow from it and take steps to improve. He did 0 of that all year. It's easier to talk about it than be about it.

Obviously you disagree since you quoted me. But thanks for letting me know explicitly.

Unfortunately, Thomas can't go back and change how the season went. Hence, he's trying to use that poor season as a learning opportunity and take some positive out of it. That's how life works in general, which was my original point. I don't get why this is such a bad thing or why it should incite another body language referendum.

No problem. I assumed you didn't gather what pretty much everyone else is saying and I still don't. As you said how life works in general. That was the point of everyone. One of the larger questions he will have beyond his athleticism is his attitude. If he didn't change said attitude over two years, how could it possibly have done 180 since he declared? My guess is his maturity on the court is a question and he wanted to jump on that before it started. Again it is one thing to know what you need to from that regard. It is another to actually do something different. Much like every other athlete or person in general that says they learned something. You have to prove it and I will maintain very heavy skepticism until proven otherwise.

Since when did Thomas Bryant have a bad attitude? So he complains about some fouls? Who cares? The kid gives his all on the court and plays with emotion. Outside of Yogi, he's the biggest reason IU won the league title and went to the sweet sixteen two years ago.

I'd rather have a kid that you need to try and reign in, than have one you have to try and get to play hard.

That is fair. We will have to see if he can be.

Agreed. Most loved his passion when we were winning but after a bad season people want to do nothing but talk bad about the kid. Seems to be a trend on here and other IU sites with players that are leaving lately.

Eh I wasn't a fan of the complaining or whining on every call. I was vocal on that during the game threads. That was part of the culture I didn't like. Do I think kids should never complain? No, but every time a call goes against you drains your teammates and gives the refs an invitation to start making calls on you to prove a point. I wish him nothing but the best but this discussion was started by a quote he made. Onwards and upwards.

Your statements about Bryant intimated that he didn't overcome obstacles and that he hadn't learned anything.  He was playing decent basketball at the end of the season.  Just because the team was not doesn't disguise that.

I never once discussed his play or stats. This discussion had nothing to do with numbers.

Bryant has passion, there's no doubt about that, but last year he demonstrated a complete inability to control his emotions. Emotion is great when you can channel it, but he couldn't do that and it led to him being an emotional wreck on many occasions last year. I'm sure as he matures he'll get a better handle on it.

Also jump on the get off TBs back bandwagon. Kid played his heart out for us. Not his fault his coach was clueless which left him ineffective at time.
Kid cared enough to cry after the loss to UNC

I'll take a kid like that over a kid that is an unquestionable superstar but has no heart every time.

As long as it's channeled correctly. When the scouting reports say you can easily get under a player's skin and throw him off his game, that's a problem.

How are you a fan of today's basketball? Everyone complains for a call now. Leave the kid alone. Did he sleep with your girl or something? Sheesh. He played with passion on a team whose coach didn't know how to use him effectively. Let the kid grow. He's still only 19. How did you handle adversity at 19?

Might not agree with what was written -- and that's fine. But this is a pretty childish and sophomoric comment, IMO.
