mdn82 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Is there an exception when coaches are hired/fired or players already committed since miller contacted smith, Durham, and Moore or are we about to get the death penalty while unc is playing in the championship?Nah. During a dead period we can't have face to face. You can phone or text. During the previous quiet period you could communicate with upcoming college bound players.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Not sure CAM has met with them in person yet for them to receive their release Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Kepner 1 Quote

He's now got a coach that will actually run plays for him. He's gonna come back and excel under Archie. He'll be drafted 1st round in 2018 I like Blackmon more than just about anyone on this site and there is a zero percent chance of him going in the first round. It's very possible that Blackmon didn't want to play any defense because it wasn't stressed as that big a deal under Crean. Coaching makes a huge difference and Archie is gonna do just that Quote

As well as how him being a senior with multiple knee injuries will cost him. There are limitations that players such as Yogi have/had. Not saying he can't make a team, but he will not be a 1st rounder.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Class of '66 Old Fart, incrediboy, Barnett 13 and 5 others 8 Quote

JBJ is a first rounder. And on and on and on and on. Got it. Despite seemingly popular opinion on the board, the NBA does play defense, and JBJ would be a massive liability on the floor trying to guard the elite scorers of the NBA. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app NBA absolutely plays defense. Anyone who says they don't is not very intelligent. Just wait and see man. Blackmon is gonna be great his senior season. I've not been the biggest Blackmon fan because I don't think he's given 100% effort up to this point. But now he has a coach that not just him but the whole team can get behind. Just wait and see Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Listen I like Archie as a coach too and everything, but Blackmon won't become some great defender under him. Best case scenario he'll be able to hide him relatively well but that's it. The bottom line is Blackmon doesn't have great instincts or lateral quickness defensively, those are two things guys tend to naturally have, not something a coach teaches you. The NBA definitely won't put a first rounder into a below average athlete (by NBA standards) with questionable lateral movement ability who has a history of knee injuries who also happens to be pretty one dimensional offensively... Sorry to sound harsh, but Blackmon just isn't a first rounder, doesn't mean he can't have success but he has very real limitations that good coaching can't fix in a year. Put it this way, would you want your favorite NBA team to draft JBJ in the first round? I sure wouldn't. On the first three years? Absolutely not. But Blackmon has a chance to be amazing his senior season. We'll see if he wants to be that good CrossboneIU22 1 Quote

He may be an amazing AAU player, but not an amazing BIG player. BGleas, incrediboy and Tom White 3 Quote
