Hoosiers High Life Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Because he's not exactly a good coach. At best it's a lateral move.I agree He is not my number one but I think he would be better than what we have nowTHIS IS INDIANA!!!! IUsafety, Milldawg12 and Bruce 3 Quote

Stuhoo Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I'd take Archie, Bennett and Collins WAAAAY before I took Alford. Not even close. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersAnd if we hired one of those three instead of Donovan, I would be more than satisfied. In fact, for me, because he wouldn't overshadow the program, Archie is my #1 choice. BtownBanner6, IU Hoosier41 and VO5 3 Quote
Feathery Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I think Alford has 1 statistical advantage over Crean and one built in advantage over Crean in terms of IU head coach. Statistically he has actually had a defense that was in the kenpom championship level. Creans best team was ranked as high as the worst national title team, but statistically it was worse. Built in advantage for Alford is he is from the state, grew up here, play high school ball here, played college ball here. Which leads me to the advantage of being able to recruit here. Not a huge separation between the two. My concern is, it took 9 years to depart from Crean, if Alford is coach and is failing...... Milldawg12 and thebigweave 2 Quote
Bruce Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 How? What do you have to back that up ? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appHave u watched crean coached team! Removing zeller against butler on last play of game, giving up a layup to Illini with 0.6 sec left under ur own basket, playing 2 mc who have zero chance of scoring etc etc etc. examples of pure idiocy imoSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Hoosier Guy Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I've been on record saying if it's not Donovan, I want Archie. And I stand by that Hoosier in NC 1 Quote

mdiu28 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I don't really understand the love for Archie most have. Do most not realize Collins beat Archie this year - on a neutral court. He's young - ok. People are worried about Collins leaving for Duke one day - Shouldn't you be worried about Archie leaving for OSU as well? Watch Collins' teams play and I think you'll realize he'd be a great hire. They play great fundamental basketball. They share the ball & play as a team. We're about to see how his guys play in the NCAA tourney - I'm excited to watch. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
biteoftheapple Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Donavon is my hope. But Archie, Collins, or Jacobsen would be good. imo Quote

Tom White Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I still think IU should forego playing in the NIT. This season shouldn't go on any longer than it has to. The more time to talk with interested candidates, the betterBut that would (in part) depend on how much longer the candidates current teams seasons goes on. Quote
8bucks Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Was Riley even offered a scholarship? Would he be able to make the team at an SEC school?Pretty sure he was at Cincinnati. At IU he may be a preferred walk on. The Cincinnati offer suggests he has some skills. Quote
JSHoosier Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Frankly, I'm not sold on Archie Miller for an IU type job. People try to minimize Marshall doing nothing but winning because he did it at mid majors, but Archie Miller is at a mid major. woodenshoemanHoosierfan, CR3AMnCR1MS0N, Josh and 2 others 5 Quote
Josh Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I will say this about Janitor/ Bball4iu. The style in which they are posting this time has changed considerably. They are posting for attention, before they posted because "Hoosiers need to know what's really going on". Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI figured out his code. Yes, he "said Alford 4 days ago but"......he never said the first name. Everybody is just assuming it's Steve. It'll be Sam with Bryce as an assistant. Mark the tape, you heard it here first.FIRE HIM! Stuhoo Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Same question as in regards to Dane Fife but a different scenario obviously:Would the people OK with Alford be OK with Alford if he didn't play at IU?Asking for discussion's sake because I'm not really sure how I feel about it. For me? Alford: no Fife: potentially yes.But Fife and Alford DID play at IU, and that is absolutely relevant. Quote
jdailey1981 Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 I have heard that IU has been in touch with Billy Donovan's agents, so we will see what happens there.Sent from my SM-G930V using BtownBanners mobile app HooHooHoo22, Happydaze and Bgrimm4 3 Quote
Sota Hoosier Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 The only advantage I see with Alford is that he would fully understand what it means to be the HC at IU. Other than that, pass...I'll take Gregg Marshall in a heartbeat between the two.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app 8bucks, ThompsonHoosier, Happydaze and 4 others 7 Quote

Never Crean hasnt either. The Zeler Olidipo team was not good enough. Fans will argue it was, but the stats dont lie. The defense wasnt good enough. Just like Alords forst UCLA team was close statistically but not good enough both teams failed in the sweet 16. The only coach who has consistantly put out offenses and defenses together to win it all, not at a blue blood, is Gregg Marshall. People here dont want him. Bennett is close.
