Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Read the posts. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI agree those schools would be good for him. He could play anywhere but question is where would he fit the best to boost his stock. Those schools get more notice than middle of the pack power 5 teams though so it would be smart. Zags lose a cpl guys too he could step right in by NWG who is a solid pg. I would choose JBJ over Crean though so hopefully it doesnt happen. Id choose most our kids over Crean honestly though.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Hoosier Guy Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 JBJ could have been really good. But the injuries and the lack of a good HC have hindered him. Blackmon can score as it is but could you imagine if he had a coach that actually called for screens to free him up for shots? He could have been deadly Yogi's Picnic Basket 1 Quote
yogisballin Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Let me ask you this: What will change next year? Our biggest need is a point guard, and Tommy can lay blame wherever he wants, but he didn't bring one in last year, and there isn't one coming next year. His positionless system will be no better next year. Most likely, it will be worse.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appWe are WAAAYYY too easy to guard and it's getting worse with each gameSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

So tired of Crean's repeated stupidity. Situationally, too, Crean has been bothered with the team’s lack of attention to detail. At critical times when opponents have mounted quick runs, the IU coach has been disappointed by forced or quick shots instead of taking time to open more efficent opportunities around the floor. This quote is exactly opposite of the "everyone has the green light" comments attributed to him and play faster. The idea of valuing possessions is 9 years too late. Quote

Keep in mind, I firmly believe that our strength training program kills pure shooters their Freshman year until they adjust to their new bodies so take that away and he shoots like he is this year as a Freshman at UK, with less exposure to poor defense and its possible. I'm not talking high 1st round but in the 20-30 range possibly. Then again, I could be completely wrong. No way of knowing at this point. I really like JBJ as a player, just wish he would have been used properly while he was here. Like setting a screen for the guy more than once a year. Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Other than to transfer, where are they going?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersOG and Bryant are both solidly in the first round in almost all mock drafts. Even with OG's injury. The Heat have 9 players right now that were D League guys. The D League is even a good option at this point for kids. Money isn't good, but it is growing and sponsors are being added. In a few years the pay will probably go up to 100-200,000. There are plenty undrafted guys now too. If they all want to leave they will get paid to play ball next year. Go ask Chad Ford, Jonathon Giovany, or Gary Parrish all of them have OG and Bryant in. Whoever does Bleacher Reports mocks have them in as well. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app 8bucks 1 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 If OG is healthy during workouts he has a chance to move up at least 5-8 spots. The lowest I have seen OG is 23rd and TB the lowest is 28th. JBJ is only in one, but he will at least get a summer league invite and with a real coach calling screens for him I think he would have a shot at making a team. yogisballin Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 This gives me hope that if we get a top notch coach in here and his pro prospects aren't great, that there is a chance he might actually stay. However, if Crean is still here, then I think it would be the best thing for JBJ as he can improve his draft stock by going to a better coach who will know how to use him. Sadly, if he went to UK, I think he would have been in the NBA already. Doesn't mean he would have lasted but he would have been drafted 1st round already in my opinion.I think your way off. I haven't ever seen him as a great player. Like others mentioned, he can shoot and that's really it. We all know what he brings on the defensive end. Handles are shaking at best for a guard. Does not want to drive left. Come to think, has he ever done this? He has 1 go to move when shot clock is winding down, nearly same routine. Michigan must've saw this, u think? When I played, I'd much rather drive to the rim with my left.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

And shooting alone can buy you a ticket to the NBA. There are plenty of guards that are horrible at defense. Kyrie, Lillard and Curry just to name a few. The NBA is based on help defense and more team orientated than one on one. It is very easy to hide bad defenders specially if you have a sjot blocker in the back end. I also question the legendary pre game workouts as it relates to players health. The one I saw footage of Crean had the death stare and they were moving at a good pace. The manic persona has to really grate on the players over a long season. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

Winston is the perfect pg for him as well. I watched him set up so many shooters last night with dribble penetration. Bridges is the one kid that reminds me of Rabb in the sense he could come back. MSU with their class and the guys they have coming back are clear favorites next year in B1G. Wisky loses Hayes and Koenig. Maryland loses Trimble. Purdue loses Edwards, Haas and maybe Swanigan. Michigan loses Walton and Irvin. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

They all are electric on offense, but if we are trying to mention JBJ with those guys were expecting him to be a star. Not even the case whatsoever. I never said he was ever gonna be one of those guys so any comparison should be thrown out. They are also pgs not sgs so it is their job to create isnt it? All I am saying is JBJ could easily find a role as a bench guy who provides shooting. Not saying he will ever be a star or even a starter in the NBA and that isn't a bad thing.
