JaybobHoosier Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Pretty sure that sorry is made up. I've heard it but don't think it's true Yeah I think it's speculation. Nothing ever came about or anything, so right now it's just a story that isn't validated. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

This, and the story about the opposing student fans chanting negative things at his sons high school game is pretty common practice at high school games. We yelled and chanted things about the opposing team/players all the time and they were usually personal. It doesn't make it right but that's what kids do, they are 14-18 year old kids, not uncommon to say mean things, especially to a rival JaybobHoosier 1 Quote
MadAboutIndiana Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 What did Crean ever do to make some people poke holes in every little thing concerning the man? Lol A part of me wishes he would just bolt now, guns blazing, middle fingers in the air Quote
Bittersince87 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Tom crean needs to stop kissing his son on the mouth and start coaching basketball get his bum out of the state of Indiana Ugh everyone knows I want coach gone but this is just uncalled for. You can bring up his coaching acumen or his lack of achievements but the guy is a nice guy and doesn't deserve this. mamasa, rossellis, mdn82 and 4 others 7 Quote

I agree with you about this season. It was a great success to me. A proud performance. As far as "enjoying the journey", many are worried that journey is going to follow his career trends and be some weak performances upcoming. Which brings us back to why FANS react the way they do. For me personally, I'm excited about IU basketball for the future again. I wasn't the last 2 years. So I'm still worried, but excited. 8bucks 1 Quote

I was excited after the 2014-2015 season after the team visibly improved from 2013-2014, until the off-season issues occurred. 2013-2014 has been the only season I haven't enjoyed since 2011-2012. Next year looks very promising, even with the pending and potential departures. WayneFleekHoosier and Trish 2 Quote

What were we, 7th place in the Bigten? 10 seed in the tourney? Lost in the first round, have off court issues that were repeat offenses and led to dismissals, come on, it was a huge disappointment Quote
Trish Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Assuming everyone stays out of trouble and returns next year, it should be a very exciting season next year. Assuming everyone comes back and develops a tad, i don't see why another sweet 16 would be out of the question. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

What were we, 7th place in the Bigten? 10 seed in the tourney? Lost in the first round, have off court issues that were repeat offenses and led to dismissals, come on, it was a huge disappointment Saw improvement in Yogi, Troy, and Hartman, realized Z was actually going to contribute to our team, was very impressed with JBJ's shooting, signed OG, Juwan, and Bryant, beat Butler, Michigan, Ohio State, and Maryland, and played tough against a good Wichita State team in the tournament. As background, after the Holt accident and all of the off-season issues, I expected this team to crumble. Instead I saw a team that had some promise, but lacked interior defense. When we signed TB, that made me excited for 2015-2016. I was not happy with where the team placed in the B1G, or some of the losses (Northwestern and Purdue sweep), but it was a helluva lot better than the previous year. I was very much on the Fire Crean Train after 2013-2014 once the off-season issues occurred. When I realized he wasn't going anywhere, I viewed 2014-2015 as a rebuild year and saw improvement that I hoped would translate into this past season, which it obviously did. I didn't expect much from the 2014-2015 team at all due to the roster depletion and lack of a big man, which can be pinned on Crean for failing to keep his players in-line and signing questionable recruits (HMP and April) to fill the gaps left by Zeller and Vonleh. Was I happy with the 2014-2015 results? No, but it's 2016 now and we're looking back on a successful season and ahead to one with a lot of promise. The team next year needs to contend for the B1G Title and make it out of the first weekend of the tournament, or I will completely doubt Crean's ability to reload versus rebuild. Quote

Out and out bashing is something entirely different. The one thing that none of us have ever had a reason to question; is Tom Crean the man. Accusing him of incest is just a smidge over the line. :) Class of '66 Old Fart, theriverpilot, ALASKA HOOSIER and 2 others 5 Quote

Trolling or making a response in every thread for the sole purpose of a reaction after being requested by a mod is enough. We have been here almost 3 years now. We don't kick off many people. Has nothing to do with positive or negative. We have plenty of both left. Pap made a call any of the mods would have made. On the front page of the site we have a list of our rules. ElectricBoogaloo Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 A lot of people before this season had accused Crean of never being able to change his coaching style. I think Tom Crean improved as a coach over the last year or so. I didn't see the momentum-killing hockey substitutions. The confusing defensive switches from early in the year were done away with/simplified. No talk of players being run into the ground during late season practices. If we can lock up some of this 2017 in-state talent then I honestly don't think there will be much left to criticize. The list of coaches I would rather see here instead of Crean has grown considerably smaller. FortWayneHoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER, southsidehoosier and 4 others 7 Quote
