Let me get this straight... we don't have unanimous acknowledgment of the fact that there's no chance they can fire him now. Clinching the B1G... That does it, no? The national reaction to firing him the year of a conference title would be fascinating to see, though!

I don't think its so much people wanting to fire him.  Just people still doubting if hes the guy for the job

Which is 100% reasonable and justified!

My point is that it doesn't matter if IU loses out, or any other poor scenario. Winning the conference saves his behind.

I've no doubts at all. He's not a coach who's capable of winning a National Championship. Not this year, not next year, not ten years from now. Once it became obvious to me that this was the case, I no longer needed to consider the impact of "next year's recruits" or stress out over wins and losses and how they might impact our standings or seeding, etc. Of course I support IU, and would like nothing better than to see another banner hoisted to the rafters, but I won't allow myself to get caught up in the moment. One need only look at the man pacing the side of the court to be reminded of the futility of that exercise.

You don't honestly think his behind was ever not saved do you? My friend, as long as there's a Fred Glass at IU, we'll always be able to count on seeing Tom Crean court side, deliriously clapping his heart out. They're like the moon and the tides, forever  dependent upon the other for their very existence.

Jeff Rabjohns @JeffRabjohns
Tom Crean said he started practicing less in January where in the past he would have pulled back in little in February

Could well be part of the reason they don't seem to be so worn down.  Also helps that we've got a bench we can count on for results and not just because we have to have 5 players on the court.  Second unit of Max, OG, JM, Z and HN ain't all that bad.  Still wish he'd pull the main group earlier in the blowout games.

And again... if we end up winning the B1G outright.. and again.. next year is like 13-14... he needs fired. We can't keep playing the up and down game. It has to be up at all times. The only way we should ever have 10 losses is because we have a schedule like Kansas did last year. A 4 seed should be a down year. Next year we have the talent to finish Top 3 in the B1G. Is that good enough? No. But as long as it isn't another 13-14 he'll stay. But he's got to be in contention till the very last game. And we can't have the dip we had this year... that isn't acceptable no matter what.

And thank god that you do, or I might have feel as if life isn't worth the living.

Come again? En inglés?

The man has won two Big Ten titles. That's a fact. He's proven himself.

Dan Dakich said it perfectly on the Illinois broadcast. Sure, there are things that didn't go as well as you'd like, mistakes made, etc. but the guy has done not just a good job--he's done a phenomenal job the last 8 years. It's truly sad that many can't give him an ounce of credit.

i have no problem giving him credit when it is do however I also have no problem calling him out when he hasn't done the greatest job. Doing a phenomenal job the last 8 years would be a matter of opinion but there is no denying the great job he has done this year so far

The 7 and 8 place finishes between titles is unacceptable. In his tenure he has been top 5 just 3 times. That needs to improve.

would you rather finish 5th but 2 games out of 1st or finish 2nd but 6 games out of 1st?
