TOM CREAN FIRED

Crean getting 26% of the votes is the real problem. Give fans of Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. our results over the past four years and I think the % who would want the coach back would be very close to 0. Too many fans that are satisfied with mediocrity and being relevant once every now and then. They don't expect excellence in the first place so of course they're not upset when we don't achieve it.

Those programs would've fired Crean by now.

Actually, they never would've hired him but that's beside the point.  The would also fire the AD for mishandling their most visible program the way Glass is.

Could've been Fred Glass voting time after time after time after time, then going back to spit shining Crean's Sweet 16 ring before voting time after time after time again.

Then apologizing for taking down Crean's ego banner then finding a way to put it back up along with a separate banner for '16.

Does this freak out have more to do with actual "inside info" (which I don't believe) or the fact that no move has been made yet? Either way people need to chill and see what happens.

Hickory Hoosier on 24/7 has been a known insider and said to expect him back unless he leaves on his own Glass will not fire him or something along those lines.

Another supposed insider. I trust no one. He may be right but lets see what happens. Social media has turned our world to the point where one posts from a supposed insider causes hundreds a mass freakout. The good and the bad of modern technology and social media are at work.

The only verifiable information we know is that Crean is still recruiting for Indiana. I think this is a bad sign and an indication he has been told he is going to be retained. Is it entirely possible Glass just hasn't fired him yet? Absolutely, but I would maintain the fact that he is still out recruiting is definitely a bad sign.

One thing's for sure. If Crean is back next year I won't bother jumping on the tank train again. Glass will have let us know that he doesn't care if Crean puts together bad teams that lose a lot of games. There are enough good games out there to watch to fill my free time.

I believe that this is all just posturing.  If Glass and Crean have a good relationship, Glass will do everything he can to get Crean the best deal possible.  Keep your eyes on Missouri, it's not over.  A lowball offer is often part of bargaining.  Crean is gone, IU does have feelers out.  This is just the way the game is played.

Or he's been told nothing so he is working business as usual. Often people fired from jobs conduct business normally till the moment they are fired even if the signs of it happening are likely. I am not saying we know for sure Crean will or won't be back but nothing I've seen so far (still recruiting, message board insiders) to sway me either way based on available evidence. I am still unsure and waiting to see how it plays out.

I totally agree that is possible. I am just saying the only credible/verifiable information we have is a bad sign. It is definitely possible you are correct (and I hope you are!).

3/25/15.

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

He actually gave him the vote of confidence on 3/5/15. Later he reiterated and outlined the standards

"My goals for this program are to perenially contend for and to win multiple Big Ten championships, regularly go deep in the NCAA tournament and win our next national championship," Glass said. "Be elite, if you will. As a lifelong Hoosier and IU basketball fan, alumnus and current AD, nobody wants that more than me."
