TOM CREAN FIRED

Turgeon made a few changes near the end that worked.

Attacking Blackmon on O and switching Cowan to Blackmon on D. Both worked. They won a close game.

Granted, Rob hits that we are still playing but.... Could have won it outright.

Blackmon stepping out of bounds up 2 with ball was a critical point as as well.

As good as he was last night, he was directly responsible for 2 five-point swings that went against us. The first one was the botched fast-break that resulted in OG's missed dunk. He couldn't decide if he wanted to take it or lob it, and the result was a bad pass that OG was fortunate to even get a hand on for an extremely difficult dunk attempt which he missed. Maryland then hit a 3.

The other one was his missed layup. I don't know if he was surprised at how open he actually was, but I have no idea how that ball didn't go in. Maryland responded with another 3.

Out of the final media timeout, up by 2, we made a great defensive play on Trimble, and moments later he steps on the sideline.

Just some brutal mistakes that can't happen on the road.

I didn't get to see the game, but listening to Fischer on the podcast try to put a positive spin on the game. I'm pretty amused with his take on Blackmon. Fischer said it was their best defensive game, and they gave up 75.

Do you ever notice that anyone talking about Blackmon only mentions his offense and not how many points he is giving up? He absolutely kills us defensively. I seriously think opposing coaches tell their team to get the ball to whoever he is supposed to be guarding.

It's not a secret and opposing coaches absolutely know to attack him. DD referenced this several times last night.

We had the same issues with Troy last season. Bryant is getting exposed and abused too.

We're going to beat Rutgers but every other game of the next 6 is very losable. Izzo will probably be making the corner with his team by the time they come to Bloomington and much like Pitino, Izzo knows how to pressure Crean teams out on the perimeter. Tough stretch coming boys. Buckle up.

Updated for the Maryland game.

Penn State could be a loss too (I can't believe I had to say that....).  They lead the B1G in forced turnovers and we turn it over the most, plus it's on the road.  They've given us trouble by slowing it down in the past too.

Can we play 20'questions?

Honestly it is one that would get him in trouble. When he used to post he would post stuff a few days before it came out. 41 figured it out so he stopped posting cause he knew what would happen.

I feel like there's a code being spoken, and I haven't cracked it.   Who is the janitor?  What's 41?   What tweet?  Good grief....if we can get Crean out of here and hire an actual basketball coach, let's do it.  Whether it's with a janitor or a maid.  41 of 839.  Twitter or Facetime or an Apple 2.  A Merlin.  Whatever.

"JanitorInTheGym" is his moniker and twitter handle. He is hooked in. For real. He is not a fan of Crean. He tweeted this week that alums are starting to get involved in a post-Crean effort.

41 is the moniker of the owner of this site. Like Stu said, he isn't exactly a fan of Creans', but doesn't throw out information to start anything. I would take that tweet as the ball is rolling and there is starting to be pressure.

Did the ball start rolling before? Thought Janitor alluded to some activity before TB committed which seemed to quiet things down.

Glass inquired about multiple coaches in the weeks leading up to Bryant's commitment. Bryant committed about a week after Glass announced Crean was staying. The thought process was that since Crean still had 5 seasons left on his contract, a move didn't have to be made just yet, and with the addition of Bryant plus Yogi and Troy staying, the team would contend the following year.

Still a LOT of season left.

Sadly I think it will take a free fall for Crean to be fired. Not sure .500 in conference will get him canned.

His recruiting misses and class next season won't help his cause though.

I mean even if we didn't make the dance somehow, I still believe we are still another poor season away from him being fired. Glass doesn't have the guts to shake up the biggest program here at IU. At least until we're NIT bubble bound for more than two years with talent.
