TOM CREAN FIRED

so in your opinion in the history of college basketball no amateur player should be held accountable for their actions off the court or their actions on the court because the coach should hold them accountable and is to blame. Like pap I can't believe I'm defending a person I think should coach at a lower level program but in my opinion the blame should be equally on all parties involved. In my opinion the difference between players today at some programs compared to players in the past are they don't hold themselves accountable and take ownership for their own actions like they have in the past. Maybe it's a generation thing

It is nobody elses job to hold a player accountable.  As fans we simply can blame players.  But if a player is out of control on or off the court the RCCA has to do more with the coach than the player.  Demanding the player be punished is demanding a symptom be treated versus actually getting rid of the problem, in this case a coach who lets players do whatever they want.

davis's aau team is the Colorado Hawks I don't think boo is involved with him but Curtis jones played for boo's aau team

Watched his signing live in the Internet and I could have swore Boo was there. I could very easily be wrong though.

I hate being the one to say it.. But I'll say it.

If we want Crean gone, we're going to have to keep losing. Yes yes losing is bad or whatever , but it's not going to help if the team keeps winning games, let alone if they get a solid W.

Yes it sounds terrible, but that's the only way I see him getting canned.

However, I see this team winning a couple big games, losing some bunnies, and then getting dropped in the B1G tourney like every year and we end up declining the NIT. Then after we decline the NIT, we'll end up waiting around another year for the season to start to only end up having the same stuff..

If Yogi is so toxic then why is Crean still starting him when he is going to get him fired?

Start Robert Johnson over him and set the tone

It would make sense, wouldn't it?  Then again so would not switching defenses in the middle of a possession when it only confuses us.

i sure hope not. If we don't make the tournament there is no lifeline for him. He should leave on his own for his own sake. Not a good feeling to carry with you everywhere you go

That's what I was thinking until Bob Kravitz tweeted a video that he could no longer defend him... And I read that Ken Nunn was distraught.... And etc.

Side note: I truly think Stevens would come to coach IU. Especially if Kevin McHale could replace him in Boston.

Glad to see someone agrees with me. We need Cuban to convince Brad that the NBA is overrated haha

I don't know if he would or not, but I don't see how it couldn't be tempting.  At one time this was his dream job and he'd get to roam the same sidelines as the coach he grew up idolizing, not to mention (assumingly) better pay in an area that's cheaper to live in.

Most of us pretty much know he's going to have to go so the questions really are:

1. How long is Glass and the Administration going to drag this out plus

2. Is the school going to step up and spend how ever much it takes to get the best coach money can buy or are they going to do a cheeseball cheap move?

I think they will fire him a day or so after our last game of the season.

I do believe IU will pay top dollar for a top proven coach. However, will those coaches be willing to come here? Just depends and has quite a few questions in it.

My dream staff would be

Head coach - Brad Stevens

Assistant - Dan Dakich

Assistant - Dane Fife

Assistant - Tim Buckley

Strength and conditioning coordinator - Lyonel Anderson

A sleeper candidate for assistant coach would be Greg Tonagel of Indiana Wesleyan.

I can dream, right?  Someone make this happen.

I would really enjoy Stevens to come be Iu's coach. But, I believe he is an honorable man, who will live out his current contract. I do not believe he would want the Larry Brown rep.

If the rumors are true, and who knows, Stevens always has a few outs in his contract if particular dream jobs are open. If so, and the IU job is one of the outs, he can honorably pursue it.

I would replace Dakich with AJ Guyton.

I'll pass on Dakich. The only advantage to having him on staff is that I wouldn't have to see/hear him on TV.

Yeah I get that but I don't know man, he knows basketball and he gets IU.  He was a heck of a defensive player at IU, as was Fife.

He'd be a very good assistant at IU, and let's not forget although he can be brash, he does things honorably and the right way.  He's disciplined, definitely a Knight guy.

Yeah, I agree on no Dakich.  I think he'd always put himself in the spotlight and not actually fill an assistant coach role.  Spend too much time angling for the head job himself.  Finally, I don't think he'd accept the position of being in a subservient role.  He's got his radio gig and TV gig.  He gets more spotlight now than he would as an ass't.
