Class of '66 Old Fart

Indiana @ Northwestern - Sunday 6:30 on BTN - Official Game Thread

Recommended Posts

I will say this. Out of all the IU boards I have followed, this is by far the best one. Way better than Peegs (or The Hoosier is what it is now), Scout (which is the new Peegs and it's beyond awful), and 247. I love this board

Thank you for the comments we hope you stick around, looking forward to seeing your input

I see 1 of 2 things happening. Newkirk will shut down McIntosh and we hit many threes and pull out a close one OR we look like a bunch of third graders running around looking clueless.

That seems to be the frustrating part of the Crean era. We can beat a puke team with eleventy billion pros or get beat by Eastern Washington at home. A better example is beating a solid KU team in Hawaii or losing to an okay IPFW team with 80+% of the fans pro IU.

I have a feeling McIntosh has had this game circled on his calendar for quite awhile. I haven't really kept track of him in big games but my thought is another big game from an Indiana AS we didn't recruit.

This is exactly the kind of situation where Crean and staff will coach superbly and we will probably run NW out of their gym. And.. I'm not sure how I actually feel about that..

From #3 in the country to underdogs at NW..

Then again, Creans record against NW is atrocious lol

I would never root for the team to lose but... I'm hoping Northwestern gets into the tourney this season. This is a critical game for them to keep a seed dropping loss off their record.

With JBJ, OG, and Hartman out and a few other players nicked up I can't see us really having a chance in this one. Will we have a role player go off because Crean can't pull them after a few made baskets or will McIntosh get revenge for IU fans being mean to him?

This seems like another game I'll get man "kicks" out of.

Over/under
- (3) Bryant drives resulting in TOs
- (2) Crean blowups on random players
- (5) Newkirk "where are you going" drives
- (15) NW FGA without an IU player within 5'
- (6) TOs from dribbling it off their leg
- (2) Buckley "WTF" looks at Crean
- (7) references of "can't defend" by announcers
- (744522) weave and heaves

- (12) Discussion of deflections in post game conference

-(3) Diet Cokes

-(17) Hiking up pants while pacing sidelines

(5) Bryant catching post entry pass at 3 point line
(4) Crean looking at game sheets cluelessly
(1) announcers discussing opposing player career high
(48) blow by drives as our guards just pivot hips and don't move feet

I could see this game going a couple different ways.

The boys plays inspired basketball. Rojo decides to take over for James scoring and drops 20 with some hot shooting from outside. Thomas Bryant and Tommy Crean both discover Thomas is actually better in the post area and he drops a 20 and 10 game. The bench decides to step up and Jones repeats his Kansas performance. IU wins by 14.

or..

We come out sluggish. We jack three's up every other possession. We don't start our "offense" until the shot clock reads 12 seconds. Thomas continues to play the perimeter while Crean gives giant minutes to McRoberts and Josh. Our defense resembles that of a Parks and Recreation Youth League team and a Northwestern player from Vermont goes for a career high.
