rebelhoosier848891 Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Still in shock----don't know all the details----but thank Coach Wilson for bringing the football program back to respectability. Now--I just hope we learn he did it the right way. I trust Glass and love Coach Allen's enthusiasm and results this year as well. Sure hope IU football keeps moving forward---the right way. Quote

lucel15 Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Doyel is the most talented writer the Star has ever had. Sometimes, the truth sucks. Doesn't make it his fault. He's a little over the top and not always on a political side I agree with, but a sack of turds? No. I will definitely agree to disagree. You realize he's been in hot water before at other publications. And from what I saw people were calling for his head last night. The dude is not a professional. And old friend if the truths sucks and you believe everything he writes about football then don't quote me ever. He's a total Hack and im not the only one who believes it. Stuhoo Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Doyle reminds me a lot of Dakich, only in print: Very smart, Very interesting, Brutally honest, and At times over the top to prompt discussion and reaction. For me both Doyle and Dakich are a "must see". cthomas 1 Quote
Whoozhers Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Coach Allen could be the guy. But, for me, if he talked 12 minutes yesterday after being introduced....... It was 10 minutes too long. Quote

However, I'll take a coach who's been in the sports scene rather than click bait monster any day who's been known to not find all the facts when he reports or writes. hsrtxp Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Doyle was just ok IMO until the Bucket article. I thought that was trash and very disrespectful to both programs. If he can't be bothered to watch the game that gives him a job I can't be bothered to read his blather anymore. He can move on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

I'm not saying he hasn't had any good articles in the past.....like you said last weekends sunday article was a joke. If I was Allen or Glass. He doesn't get a press pass at all. Popular Post GnarlyNormEllenberger Posted December 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2016 A few thoughts... - Naturally, everyone wants to make judgments on this matter, but the fact is that the general public will likely never know the whole story of everything that happened that came to this decision. It's frustrating, but it's the reality of the situation. Remember when Curt Miller resigned from IUWB? I'm not comparing the events that led to the resignation, but am pointing out that those reasons were never made public and probably never will be. - We know two things. 1) Glass cleared Wilson of medical improprieties or NCAA infractions, yet 2) Wilson chose to forgo a higher payout by resigning. Read between the lines here, folks. There's plenty there. - The level of ambiguity to which Fred Glass spoke during the press conference was high. "Philosophical differences" is as coded of a phrase as they come. I've used similar phrasings in the workplace myself. It had all the makings of an "I'll keep quiet, you keep quiet, have a nice life" situation. It seems obvious to me that this was done to protect both sides from further damage. Annoying, but it seems to be the reality of the whole thing. - Already starting to read stories and comments like "IU fires Wilson despite most success in decades" along with others like "Just as IU turns the corner, they take giant steps backwards." Those comments seem extremely short-sighted and don't look into the depth of the situation. Uwe Robb, lucel15, MartintheMopMan and 6 others 9 Quote

Okay maybe there were two-three sentences praising it but other than that this piece was a bashing column. I'm not going to support that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Brass Cannon Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The correct way to describe that game by sports columnists is an ugly game by teams capable of doing better. But despite this at least there was drama at the end You don't just say the teams are bad and that bad football is the result of bad teams playing. Quote
