Why do all the new people always try dictate what Coaches we can talk about

By end of next week news should be out. Not a formal announcement, but the dam wall won’t hold for much longer. Not a troll. Way better than a 0% chance. Have heard two names mentioned as assistants. We should all be very happy, including you, if/when this comes to fruition. And if not, hey, I’ll still be here and pass things along as they come. If so, you owe me a coke haha.

Thanks for the welcome. Wanted to share some data I put together using Torvik. Here are the rankings for a bunch of the coaches I've seen mentioned for the IU job among *active* coaches across 3 time frames: since the 07-08 season (as far back as Torvik goes), since the 21-22 season (NIL era, also since Woodson was hired) and this season. Lots of caveats apply: this is just team efficiency and doesn't take into account tournament success for example. Also, I pulled this data across the past week or so and the rankings may have shifted very slightly.

We have a weird bunch in here. Matt Painter might be right certain IU fans root for the bad stuff to happen so that can say I told you so. Even if RTZ comes back with bad news will you celebrate it? Just seems weird to me but everyone has to do themselves :-)

I wouldn’t say that and that came from quite possibly two of the closest people in the basketball world so unless you talked to Brad personally in the last 72 hours you probably shouldn’t speak in absolutes. This is the only post I’m making involving this argument.

I hope he understands how that comes off. Like Scott Dolson is telling him what is going on knowing good and well he will run to a message board and say it. Scott is probably not even telling Heidi (Wife) who he is hiring at this point. He said the same thing yesterday and it was refuted by everyone. We know there has been more than a 5-minute Zoom. Brad might not be the coach like all of us have said but he doesn't know any more than the rest of us.

Coaches who know they’re at the top of an AD’s target list don’t require their media pals to start whisper campaigns for their candidacy. Often times the more you hear a coach’s name, the further towards the bottom they reside on the program’s candidate list.

I just came here to pass along some solid info. Lmao, this is insane, I’ve gotten deep into a web and can’t get out. Got some crazy following me around on a message board, my life is complete. Makes me wish I never came and posted, but thanks for many others for being so welcoming and cool to chat with. Sorry for derailing all of this, but always gonna defend myself. I'm fairly convinced now that the athletic department asked a few of its employees to come on here and try to stop the Stevens talk. It just seems way too coincidental we'd get a handful of new posters basically all saying the same thing. Not to mention these guys act like they haven't done message boards before. When I posted on a message board for the very first time, I certainly wasn't thinking about going after respected posters and telling everyone what not to talk about.

As a NON-INSIDER (want to again make that very clear), I have not heard anything from my person to make me think we aren’t all going to be quite happy. But I’ve definitely learned my lesson on sharing anything positive and would just say to continue to lean on the true insiders that are on this board. Those guys catch hell from time to time, but really are clued into what’s happening and we should all be thankful they continue to show up and share what they hear.

IUs non-con next season (some, not 100% confirmed) @ UK, vs. Kansas St, neutral (Chicago) vs Marquette, neutral (New York - Arthur Ashe Stadium) vs St. Johns The next HC will have nearly unlimited NIL, resources, a great national schedule, and the big ten. Whoever we get will 100% be more prepared and have a plan unlike our current situation, regardless of who it is.

And that’s what goes on throughout the day in this thread. McCollum, DeVries, Drew, Cronin, Pitino Jr, heck I’ve even seen Schertz being discussed all in the last 8 hrs. Stevens gets mentioned as well but why do you care if he does? Just put your finger in the middle your phone and swipe up and the Stevens posts disappear and you can keep scrolling and find a candidate you feel is better suited to talk about and then post about them.

I have never heard of a specific date. I have not personally heard of a signing yet. I have heard many different people say Scott has his man. I have also heard that if so many people know it's done it's going to leak sooner rather later. I have spoken with @BehindTheBench and believe he has good info. I think that date he is saying is because it will be at the end of the regular season and people will speak more freely.

I’ve been lurking here for a couple of days and have really enjoyed the read. Place me in the category of hoping for Stevens but pessimistic about the chances. Brad seems like a straight shooter to me and his V-Day comment, while not as staunch as the Masshole proclamation, suggests to me that he is out. I pray I’m wrong. But for those that don’t understand why he’d leave the NBA front office of one of its premier teams, I’d just argue that he has a chance to be a legend. Nobody will remember the president of the Celtics who helmed a handful of championships, but Brad could own Indiana. He could have a statue. He could have the new basketball stadium named after him. But, he seems like a good man with little ego unlike us mere mortals.

John Fanta, with Field of 68 and Fox Sports, went on Pardon My Take and predicted Otzelberger to IU. Just interesting after Goodman's comments Friday night and Rabjohns tonight. You may not like them, but the Field of 68 is probably the best there is at covering our sport (give them a shot. It's not just Goodman on there). Not saying it'll be TJ. It's just worth keeping an eye on. TJ I think would be as close to a "grand slam" hire as we could get. His teams the last few years have improved so much offensively. My only concern is they have a legit Final Four contending team. I just don't see a coach taking a team to the final four and leaving that same year. Kind of hope they make Sweet 16 and get beat for that sake.

I’ll do the same, and share my info and source that proves, without a doubt, that Brad at minimum has a contract in hand, therefore the odds are slightly better than 0%. Getting caught up this early AM and come to find a BTB gambling ring was established. What a ride that catch up session was lol Do we really think Otz is more than a dart board option? Think I would prefer Drew, but if Otz's people are actually reaching out with interest that would be quite the coup of a hire. Saw the Big12 arguments, and while valid, I think it is more related to him peaking at ISU given their resources. I spoke to someone yesterday tied into Ames and the NIL situation is average to poor. This guy also stated if IU made an aggressive offer, ISU would have trouble matching (they already raised football and basketball ticket prices specifically to fund coach and assistant coach salaries). Apparently the general consensus there is they have generally avoided losing their best players because they want to play for Otz versus NIL being the factor, and Otz has stayed so far because he loves ISU and Ames. Take it with a grain of salt, but I thought it was interesting.

As a proud member of HooAnon and a Brad Stevens truther I am having a blast on this board the last few weeks. So glad I left Peegs, that place is all doom and gloom and the info has been nothing short of underwhelming at best.

Truthhurts is Tyme and doesn’t like Chris and his sources. Truth Hurts thinks it’ll be Mick Cronin as our next coach. Truthhurts Loves Woody. Truthhurts doesn’t like Cliff Marshall and thinks our fanbase are hicks and racists. I say ‘5%’ chance at Stevens. But it might be zero. Tyme/Truthhurts has been right about a lot of roster moves and insider info. But wrong about any faith he put in Woody to be a great coach and wrong about truly being a “ball knower”. This is not true at all. Most of the insiders here share a vague sense of their sourcing and, more importantly, have a track record, and, most important of all, aren’t cranky for no reason.

I appreciate you. I can't count out any candidate right now for sure. I would say I would fall out of my chair if it was Chris Beard but not saying we miss on 15 people and he gets it. I highly doubt it but to say someone is out right now is crazy. Brad might say no and Andy Mohr comes back with 15 million a year and he takes the job. No one knows right now

People don’t understand probabilities when they say something is “0%”. I like playing poker against these types of people.
