Colts / NFL Game Thread

Yep, looks like it was all a hoax. I saw a screenshot of a message they had for their followers. It said they still believe something will happen, but they made a bet that if it didn't happen by midnight Wednesday, they would delete their account. They said there was a delay and they weren't told why. Sounds like they're just trying to cover their butts. I'm now in the camp that believes Pagano is here to stay. Needless to say I'll be finding other things to do on Sunday afternoons next fall.

Peyton with a minority ownership is a strange thought to me. Right now the Irsays own 100% of the Colts. There is 0% minority ownership. Getting angry at Irsay for not allowing it is off base imo. The smart thing to do is keep the 100% stake

I'm not even going to pretend to be an expert at this kind of thing, but isn't it possible the value could increase over time, especially if the Manning name is associated with the Colts brand?

I'd rather have 90% of 1.50 than 100% of 1.00.

What value could Manning bring as a minority owner to increase profitability? His best shot at driving revenue would be in personnel decisions that bring results on the field. Ownership shouldn't be making those decisions imo.

If I'm Irsay, there's no way I sell any stake in my ownership.

Tom Coughlin was recently hired by the Jaguars as Executive Vice President, a newly created role. In this role, he can help the team grow more profitable by creating better results on the field. His contract has incentives tied to results.

Peyton could have that. But ownership? No way.

Or maybe I misunderstood what some were upset about.

I think Coughlins role will work because the owner will step back and let him make football decisions. IMO the Colts would be better with an owner that could step back and let better football people (not yes men) that make decisions based on Irsay's pressure. If someone like Peyton had a minority share he could have some influence or at least a voice. Pagano needed to be fired 2 years ago. Someone that isn't a yes man should tell Irsay that.

Oh I agree....but I don't begrudge Irsay for denying somebody a share of ownership. It makes zero business sense.

Hire him in the front office and give him an incentive laden contract.

Don't get me wrong, I want Irsay to go away. I just think he made the right decision here.

Stumbled across this while looking at the paper that covers Al Durham's high school basketball games.
