After watching today’s games, I feel a little better. Road games are tough. It seems our defense, despite a ton of missed tackles, deserved to be in the playoffs. Our offense had a great year but collectively the offense came up short in the big games.

Halfway there.

I thought our defense showed up all year and more than held their own. With a similar offense we could have won every game we played. Need to be bigger, stronger, and faster on the offensive side. Especially on the o line.

It feels like if they want these first round playoff games to be good games with potential for occasional upsets, they’re going to have to start playing on neutral sites.

I think seeding them as they are ranked, rather than the artificial bump for conference champions, would help align better matchups.

Totally agree. Think that’s the most obvious change, but would take the committee conceding that conference championships don’t mean anything anymore which they probably aren’t ready to do because of the money involved. But I think a SMU/ASU and Boise State/IU game, for the right to play Penn state or Texas, would have been better television and competition than the current setup provided.

Can someone please tell me how getting beat 27-17 is a blowout? I mean, yes, it was 24 points late, but we never quit and ended up getting it to a 10 point loss. I’m so sick of these game announcers keep comparing IU and SMU in the same sentence as “both blowouts”! Yes, SMU was blown out by 28 points, but not IU!

They’re petulant children who are throwing tantrums because their baby Alabama didn’t get into the playoff. Blowouts are absolutely nothing new in the playoffs. But because we aren’t a football brand, our ”blowout” is a referendum on our worthiness

Technically blown out. No.

Were we really ever in the game after 5 minutes? No.

I get that….I totally do. I could see and respect something like, “Indiana was on their way to a getting blown out, but made it close and respectable late in the game!”

The announcers and pundits keep blabbering about games that aren’t close but….HELLO, there were plenty of blowouts when it was just a 4 team playoff.

They keep acting as if such a thing has never happened and that blowouts are proof of a non-existent problem.

….they act as if the teams that missed out, like Alabama, Miami, South Carolina, etc, there most likely wouldn’t be blowouts!

Notre Dame went to A&M to start the season and beat them by 10.  Just like Alabama, South Carolina, and Ole Miss, A&M was 5 and 3 in the SEC.

Making the final score line respectable and close (10 points being close is debatable, especially when we were only 7 pt dogs) doesn’t erase what they eyes saw for 55 minutes. Which, unfortunately, was us being dominated and blown out. The shots we are taking might be ramped up a bit by our coach (who I absolutely love) going on the gameday set and spewing a bunch of completely unnecessary nonsense right before having our tails handed to us.

I’m overtly hoping OSU, who I never cheer for, beats TN. Can’t let the SEC BS ramp up even more.

Go OSU.

Yup, just when I thought I couldn’t loathe SEC stan’s and network apologists any more, they have been so insufferable for the last 20 hrs that they’ve got me rooting for Ohio St to boat race UT.

Now I REALLY hate’em.

The average margin of victory in the last 10 national championship games has been 19.7 points.

Did the runner ups not deserve to be the playoffs?
