The Crumbl element is kinda funny. Nice article and filled in some gaps. Of all the coach/school marriages that popped up this cycle Penn St/Campbell always seemed just straight obvious. Couldn’t figure out the deal there. Now we sort of know. jermhoosierfan 1 Quote

Seems with their resources and moral compass they still poach a winner from somewhere. jermhoosierfan and Napleshoosier 2 Quote

jermhoosierfan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47417485/sources-michigan-targeting-utah-coach-kyle-wittingham I was wondering if he was going to be looked at seeing he didn't say he was "retiring" but rather "stepping down." I heard a guy on the radio this morning who knows him said that he was kinda told to hit the door at Utah as they had a "coach in waiting" who was ready. They might have given Michigan a damn good coach. Figures. Quote
Pagoda Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Just my opinion, but I think it's pretty TBD if Whittingham is a good hire. He's 66, so older than Cig, and he just got gently pushed out by Utah. Utah I'm sure had their reasons to move on. I'd say Kalen and Kenny would have been worrisome hires. As would probably Brohm and maybe even Jedd. This was UM's 5th or higher choice, as there were probably some coaches pursued we didn't know about. I'd guess he'll want to prove Utah wrong, and he is better than Sherrone (in terms of coaching). Maybe he works out, maybe he doesn't, but this hire doesn't make me worry about Michigan much more than I did before. Edit: I guess the options are one year of Biff and a hire during next season. Or this hire now. Whittingham is good, but there were probably better options. Stuhoo 1 Quote

He plays a physical style like Michigan does, and he was told that the "coach in waiting" was ready. He didn't say he was retiring when he stepped down, so he is a free agent with no buyout which is another + for UM. He's older, but he knows what he is doing. Home Jersey 1 Quote
Home Jersey Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Whit is a very, very good coach. I wouldn't be "worried" to see him at Michigan because Indiana happens to have a great (the greatest?) coach. I do think he'd make them orders of magnitude more competitive than Moore. Fun times ahead in Big Ten football. Hovadipo and jermhoosierfan 2 Quote
Hovadipo Posted 51 minutes ago Author Posted 51 minutes ago Immediate floor raiser, similar to Cig doesn't seem like he's his age, his teams pretty much always play "The Michigan Way" *barfs*. But.........while I understand the national brand that Michigan is and the built-in advantages that provides, he's never coached east of the Salt Lake City metro area. I still wish they'd just do the right thing and promote Biff. Home Jersey 1 Quote
