Yogi Ferrell Appreciation Thread

You can dislike it all you want. But it changes people's views. Christian McCaffrey knows. And I am a Hoosier. No an "(e)X-Hoosier." Creative though.

Christian McCaffrey feels the pains of playing on the west coast when none of the east coast media outlets are awake and watching him shake all shapes, sizes, and colors of players.

I know this is a slippery slope but I agree that being white in basketball is a disadvantage to a degree. Mostly because we simply aren't as athletic when it come to jumping and wingspan. (There are exceptions but few) We've all seen "white men can't jump". There is an ingrained bias from a viewing perspective as well. We as IU fans do this in regards to our own players. Framing white players as "shooters" etc... I suffered through this in my playing career in going to a predominately black HS. Think about the NBA landscape or college landscape and the athleticism. It's probably a very true bias. Also, those that can't dunk, shoot. And shoot a lot. There is little mistake with how tremendous shooters develop.

In my freshman year at VU, when I dunked it in the Rec Center... you would have thought everyone seen a ghost lol. If Yogi was white.. he'd have even less a chance at the NBA.

I'm not going so far as the final Yogi comment you made. But in general major race bias' exist in the sporting world. You have to prove them wrong if able. Grayson Allen is a great example as an exception to the rule.

People still think of Allen as a shooter. But he's a great athlete. But the media will say "shocking athleticism" or sneaky athleticism" and not "explosive." That's what McCaffrey was saying. And it happens. We just move on. Because we all use it. Will Sheehey was "sneaky athletic" while Vic was "explosive."

I've never heard Sheehey be described as sneaky athletic, only a freak athlete.

My best out of 100 from the free throw line is 95 for 100. But that included 60 straight. Which is also my best. From HS 3 I've went 85 for 100. HS 3 is easy. For HS kids it is easy. Too close. I'd love to be in the conditions Yogi is just because it is fun to put numbers on things like that. But only if I'm allowed to have my athleticism when I was 18 haha.

Damn man. What scholarship offers were you getting out of high school? I have been friends with ex Hoosiers that couldn't do what you did. 5'10"? I bet you were still getting D2 and 3 offers with those numbers.

Uh no. I had health issues in HS and didn't play my senior year.
