Beilein needs to shut the hell up. Complaining about training a guy for four years only to have them play against on another B1G team? If you're that worried about them, don't recruit over them. You've told your player who you "love" and supposedly trained to be great over four years that he is not worth a scholarship spot anymore. Why restrict him from going elsewhere if all your remaining 13 scholarship players are supposedly better/more valuable?

With the new draft entry rules creating bigger questions for coaches trying to project a roster, the grad transfer is only going to increase in importance as a way to hedge against the added uncertainty. It's an exciting new aspect of recruiting.

I thought he would be considered a foreign player because he played in Canada? I don't follow the NBA much or the draft so I could be way off on this. I thought part of the reason for Thon playing in Canada this past season was to set this up?

"Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com provided more details to the eligibility questions surrounding Maker. NBA rules require players to be 19 years old and a year removed from high school. While Maker turned 19 in February, he attends Orangeville Prep in Canada. Essentially, the NBA has to buy the premise Maker was part of the 2015 class and did a post-graduate year for him to be eligible for the draft."
