Not that he isn't a good player or person, not that he wouldn't contribute for IU... But it just doesn't seem to make very much sense. Especially given his injury situation.

Didn't they have a player transfer out mid season? That makes three players leaving O$U, two leaving MSU, one from pu, most Iowa starters graduating, and pretty much the entire Ill team arrested. This conference...

Reinhardt is the third USC basketball player to transfer in the last week, joining forwards Malik Martin and Darion Clark. But Reinhardt’s comes as the biggest surprise. He started 18 games last season — more than half of USC’s season.

Guard Elijah Stewart, who also started 18 games, was more often in the starting lineup late in the season, but Reinhardt logged similar minutes in the sixth-man role. He averaged 11.4 points per game.

Reinhardt’s departure could be a reaction to USC’s crowded backcourt. Shaqquan Aaron, a transfer from Louisville, is expected to play a significant role next season. USC will also add talented guard recruits Jonah Mathews and De'Anthony Melton, who each could make an impact early.

USC also returns Stewart and starting point guards Jordan McLaughlin and Julian Jacobs.

Reinhardt played his freshman season at Nevada Las Vegas before transferring to USC. In part, he said, he felt like he fit better in USC Coach Andy Enfield's offense.

If Reinhardt graduates, he will be eligible to play his senior season immediately.

Beilein needs to shut the hell up. Complaining about training a guy for four years only to have them play against on another B1G team? If you're that worried about them, don't recruit over them. You've told your player who you "love" and supposedly trained to be great over four years that he is not worth a scholarship spot anymore. Why restrict him from going elsewhere if all your remaining 13 scholarship players are supposedly better/more valuable?

I understand this more than IU fans trying to push Priller out the door.

- One, he got a 4-year scholarship; it's what he signed up for and UM has fulfilled their commitment. 

- Two, he "retired" from basketball. The UM coaches had to recruit thinking he wasn't coming back. It would be pretty unfair to just pull the scholarship of a HS kid who has committed.

- Lastly, it probably really sucks to coach against a player after devoting 4-years to coaching him.

I generally think kids should be allowed to transfer anywhere they want. But graduate transfers shouldn't be allowed to transfer within conference in my opinion. Thoughts?

I think it depends on the situation. If a player graduates and decides he'd rather spend his last year somewhere else, then limiting the destinations to outside the conference is reasonable. Here, though, JB is pushing Spike out the door and basically saying there's no place on the team for him. Why limit someone's options then?  You just basically rated 13 other players on your team ahead of this guy but you're worried about him hurting you in the conference? It's just rubbing salt in the wound for Spike. Coaches can go wherever they want if a better job offer comes along but players can't choose their own school after getting unceremoniously dropped from the team?

JB developed Spike for four years but apparently doesn't think much of the job he's done. I just don't see why he cares after choosing 13 other players ahead of him. Let's all remind ourselves that Michigan isn't full of conference all-stars. There were plenty of bums on that team last year but Spike is the one hitting the road.
