Is there anything tangible to come out, or are people just assuming he can't be headed to IU since he's announcing next Wednesday night from his school?

I'm sure there are plenty of players who have announced at their high school for other teams than their hometown school.  Harrison Barnes, for example, held his announcement ceremony at his high school, and everyone thought that meant he was going to Iowa State, but obviously ended up at UNC.

Spare me the "it's a great school and in his hometown" spiel.  It's still Vanderbilt.  
Great job by Archie to have us in this until the end though.  Certainly hit the ground running.

Just my thought...If you are picking IU you wouldn’t do it during a national televised IU game vs a top 25 team no matter what the schedule is he may have. He would just do it on Facebook live like mentioned before at any time.

My take is if DG and RL really want to play together its at IU not Vandy. Gonna be surprised if we dont land both. Just not gonna accomplish much at Vandy in terms of basketball.

The most plausible theory in my mind is that Darius just wants to put off the decision as long as possible but still sign during the early period. November 15th, next Wednesday, is the end of that period. I honestly think that's more realistic than "wanting to avoid social media heat from a few angry IU die hards".

Pretty much and that time wasn't randomly selected. They literally could have picked any time and place.

 

What's odd to me in this whole thing is Rabjohns. He invested a lot of time here. Why bother if we knew? Does he always stay on recruits until the final hour? I'm not familiar with that.
