B1G Coach of the Year

I think the top 5 teams in the B1G are pretty darn good this year.  The difference is the bottom 4 or 5 teams are awful! 

I think you are right on in your outlook on Crean.  He is certainly doing something different this year.

With JBJ out, the way the team has turned it around since Maui, the evolution of the Freshmen it has to be Coach Crean. Quite honestly, he deserves it.

You do realize he's made significant changes, right? He's done a few things many people were calling for him to do (quit driving the kids so hard, focus more on defense, "do what we do" which is run, space the floor, move the ball, etc), and we're better because of it. This is the first season in his 8 year tenure Indiana is better in late February than we have been at any point in the season. You have to acknowledge the whole story, here.

if I may argue a small detail in that imo we were better mid to late January than we have been in February. That is when I felt we were best that includes the road win at Michigan

We're not bad at the moment.  I'd say save the second half at Michigan State and a lackluster final few minutes v Purdue, we've been pretty solid for a couple of weeks.  We also lost to Penn State  the game following Michigan.  Since then?  We've been pretty solid in my opinion.

yes I agree were playing good i just feel our best was ohio st illinois at home north western at home and at Michigan. But have been good since but not putting complete games together. It doesn't matter just was thinking about what you thought and figured I would give my opinion. Let's hope our best is the last two cause we may need it

Not knocking Crean here, but this was supposed to be the year that Wisconsin didn't place if the top 4 even with Bo Ryan.  Which is why I think Gard should and will get it.  Even if they do come up a little short of a top 4 finish.

True, but they were a mess by the start of Big Ten Play.  Did we ever get confirmation of if this vote was just in conference performance or not?  That team was a wreck and Gard guided them deftly to an eventual tourney berth.

in my opinion they were not a wreck I think they were just trying to figure out how to play without 4 key players from a national runner up team. The 3 home losses to bad teams were by 1,2,2. Lost by 1 at iu and lost on a last 2nd shot to Maryland. I just don't see that as being a wreck but I have no problem with others saying so

I respect your opinion, but I still think that Crean has earned his stripes and gets the nod over a first year Head Coach in the Conference.

Very true. I'd give it to Gard though because he had less time at the helm to right the ship. Unless behind the scenes he's been running things. Which I suppose is possible.

Typical Wisky under Bo and now Gard. A bunch of guys nobody heard of playing well together in the system now.

That's because in recent history, Wisconsin has been the most efficient and consistent team in the country.

Unfortunately Snow doesn't know how politics in the Big10 work.  If Crean wins one more game he should definitely get the votes, but if he doesn't it will go elsewhere imo.

I respect Gard being in the discussion. He has done an amazing job, however is it different than what Mike Davis did with Bob Knight's team? Gard's players have been recruited, coached, and seasoned by Bo Ryan, just sayin.
