It's not complicated.  There is a hometown 5 star in Garland who was always going to stay home.  He's also an alpha dog and got in the ear of Shittu and Romeo long ago.  Drew got lucky this year and it remains to be seen if he can keep this streak up but barring a miracle Vandy is hitting the trifecta. 

Say what you want I think it's fishy. So my question was when is Romeo pulling the trigger? You did not answer that

One thing you seem to always leave out....Shittu to Zona was a done deal just a few months ago. Even after lots thought he would end up at UNC. Vandy has been favored for a bit but it's not like it has always been a foregone conclusion he ended up at Vandy. Plenty of schools have 5 stars he could've played with. I do get the doing something different thing though that is the only thing that really makes even the slightest since for any 5 star that isn't a hometown kid Vandy has no history that adds up all the dots. If they got even those 2 fair and square Bryce Drew deserves coach of the recruiting trail right now if that was a real reward lol.

We are the underdog and now probably a heavy underdog. It's probably time to start focusing and talking about the 2019 guys. As i said drew is a recruiting machine.

We've seen our top talent leave the state for years so we are used to it. Usually they are going to big name schools though and not vandy. Oh well time to move on.

This is literally just lightning in a bottle for Vandy and the worst possible luck for Indiana. Drew had a relationship with Garland since the 3rd grade and ends up taking a job in his backyard. Drew wasn't recruiting Romeo Langford until the Langford family ASKED him to get involved..... the Vandy insider Chris Smith is willing to stake his reputation on the inside info he's receiving, that Romeo's commitment is a done deal and eminent. So far he's 2 for 2. Others are crystal balling based off of the info he's providing them with. I personally believe him. ZERO chance Romeo's family allows him to play his last season in front of IU faithful as a Vandy recruit..... He has 1 foot in the door at Vanderbilt. It's not hard to see that based off of the information that circulating. There isn't any funny business going on IMO. Personally that claim bothers me, quite a bit. I get tired of hearing how Indiana is clearly the greatest option for every kid, yet when we miss on them, the only logical explanation is "they cheatin!"  Let's lose with some class for once. I'm personally going to be a fan of the kid's regardless of where he plays his 1 year of college ball. At the end of the day he's still an Indiana high school legend who will go onto much bigger and better things regardless of his college choice. 

 

Some perspective: 

We aren't even in the galaxy of having this discussion right now without Archie and the current staff. We are in great hands. Personally, his decision won't affect my level of excitement as to the direction this program is going. I hope others can let the ether settle a tad and take the same approach.

I did not before either but I think at this point we are a heavy underdog. I will be pleasantly surprised if he picks iu but imo he will verbal to the new basketball recruiting machine vandy within two weeks.

Perhaps we are looking at the next basketball powerhouse at a "smart school" similar to what Coach K has at Duke?   I know, I know, a long way to go to be mentioned with Coach K, but Coach K had to start somewhere too. (I am grinning as I type so I don't think so, but ....)  #StayHomeRoMeO

Thanks to the fbi arizona was not allowed to pay shittu and now vandy will get all three. Archie may eventually get in state five stars but not yet. Another one out the door to another state. I am starting to think iu was never really that serious of an option for Romeo. My guess is we were 3rd behind Kansas and listed because we were the in state school.

This is what has me hopeful still for IU. Being Mr. Basketball and passing Damon Bailey seem really important to him. I can't see a player of his caliber caring that much about those things and then turning down IU for Vanderbilt. Kansas? Maybe. But not Vanderbilt.

This is what has me hopeful still for IU. Being Mr. Basketball and passing Damon Bailey seem really important to him. I can't see a player of his caliber caring that much about those things and then turning down IU for Vanderbilt. Kansas? Maybe. But not Vanderbilt.

He can still do both and pick another school. I have laughed at the vandy insiders before but they have been 100%accurate so far and the iu insiders not so much. So if they say Romeo to vandy is a done deal I expect it is. He will not want to be stalked by iu fans,all season long so as I stated before expect his vandy verbal shortly. Hopefully we can find a stud grad transfer in the spring

I still think we have a good shot at Romeo. We all need to remember that when CAM started, everyone said it was a long shot at best due to relationships having already been built. He has made up tremendous ground in a short time.

I get Garland to Vanderbilt. I certainly think there are some fishy things about Shittu's recruitment and limited interest from many schools. Who knows if anything comes out of that, but maybe the Garlands talked him into it. However, there is a long time before he can officially sign, so nothing would surprise me.

That could be. I wouldn't doubt it if it weren't for the fact that Romeo personally said that Indiana became a legitimate option with the new staff. I have no reason to believe he's lying.
