Jerry Meyer hasn't picked us on any 5 stars before, and he's been right. That's not hating, that's doing his job right. I've never understood those that have bashed him for that.

Now if he picked us and he's right, accept that he's doing his job right. Not that there's any "hate" factor.

You can definitely tell he doesn’t care much for IU by the way he talks about us.

I'm pretty sure he is a UK fan. However he is one of the best at getting picks right.

 

I can remember on the Blackmon recruitment he backed off us after the decommit then picked IU again in the final hours. Maybe a lucky guess. Maybe not.

 

Wilkes is another he was ahead of the curve on.

 

I think it's a little of both but at the end of the day it behooves him to be right more than wrong to keep the attention on his site. So, maybe Archie will convince him Indiana is going to land 5 stars in the future.

Even if we get Romeo and Darius, it doesn't mean we'll get 5 stars in the future. As stated earlier in this thread, IU got Bracey Wright and Marshall Strickland. Then struggled through Mike Davis' tenure. We got Cody and then Yogi, then struggled beyond that. Getting studs has little indication towards getting more later.

I guess I'm just trying to temper expectations. We can (hopefully) get these two, but it gives little meaning on the next classes.

That said, come on down Romeo and Darius!

Guys Archie either got or is looking good with - Damezi, Phinesee, Race, Hunter, Garland, Romeo, Brooks, Watford, Hurt, Davis - And this is within 7 months. Did either Crean or Mike Davis ever show this kind of recruiting prowess? Not even close.

Exactly. Archie has clearly shown he has more upside than either Davis or Crean. He’s doing all of this without coaching a game. Just imagine when his team starts winning

I'm not trying to compare coaches at all.

I think the IU brand brings recruits in. Success sustains that. I'm hoping for this success to follow, but cautiously guarded by past results.

I see too many getting as excited as I did for Bracy and Marshall. Basketball needs to start again asap!

I get the skepticism. But Archie is the guy to take IU back to the top of college basketball

I saw someone say they were both top 10 players. I was 8 years old when they were freshman

Wow. I had it in my head Bracey was around 15 and Strickland was 50-60.

I'm seeing one site that had Strickland at 9 and Bracey at 16.

Yep. I seem to remember both being in the top 2 of pg and sg respectively. I guess that's why I thought of them.
