jgries84 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Refs were bad, IU's play less than stellar. I'm optimistic because this team has an edge. They came to win this game. They will regroup and move on. Still like this team and its current sitting. Will have more chances with good teams down the road and we will win. I look forward to February with a sense of excitement and hope! lakejameshoosier, Andrew_114 and JaybobHoosier 3 Quote
ALASKA HOOSIER Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 It must be said- our defense is a hell of a lot better than what it was pre-conference play. You have to admit, if we were playing defense like we were early on in the season, we would have been blown out! CTC has made some changes and they are working. We still have a long way to go till tourney time and we need to improve a great deal more. Our offense sucked purdue person last night. There were players who looked like they lost confidence and there were a lot of bad shots. One guy in particular needs to ride the pine until he develops better decision-making. The dribble-drive just doesn't make any sense when you have no control. Passes were sloppy and usually uncontrolled resulting in SO MANY friggin turn-overs. I pull my hair out everytime someone other than ROJO or Yogi dribble the ball down the court and start the play. It never amounts to anything except turnovers. biteoftheapple Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Too many turnovers, bad interior defense, Troys drives that in many cases took him away from the basket as he took the shot, few aiding calls, a stagnant offense...these all were contributing factors in last night's, loss. And many of them are the normal, when playing in Kohl. Are most of these reasons correctable? I think so, if addressed by the coaches, and worked on by the players. I hope we begin an upward trend versus Minny this weekend. I have hopes. Tougher games on the horizon. Lets get after it Hoosiers! ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

TrueHoosier62 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Haven't really seen you much lately. What happened to you? Or was it just a product of winning? Edit: You know other boards like trolls too? Winning what? Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I haven't gone back and watched any replay but it seems to me you knew how the game was going to end at the first media timeout just from the helter skelter manner Troy was playing. I sometimes wonder if he's not chugging gallons of energy drink before he steps on the court. If early in the game he's under control, he'll likely have a good positive outing but when in the early moments of the game he's just running around maniacally it's gonna be a long night -- and it was. WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 For a matter of difference. Yogi generally gets those bump calls when driving at Home. They don't call those hardly on road unless arms get in there. Quote
BtownBanner6 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 [attachment=3305:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1453919704.157020.jpg] I know this is off the topic, but I've seen this a couple times this year. Teams are attempting more free throw then field goals and that's a problem. Never really payed attention before, is this common or is that a direct result to the rule changes. Quote
mdn82 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Winning what?A months worth of games? Obviously you are watching or you wouldn't have been so quick to respond. mamasa and 8bucks 2 Quote
TrueHoosier62 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 A months worth of games? Obviously you are watching or you wouldn't have been so quick to respond. Of course I was watching, I'm an IU fan, but I wasn't watching them from some sports bar on the sandy beaches of Fantasy Island. I was watching the product on the floor, and it doesn't take Bob Knight to point out how deficient this team is. Now go have a drink and relax. Quote
Hoosiers219 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Thank you. We put guys on Nigel who could not guard him and he went hard at the goal and we fouled him. When we drive we do not go strong and try going around the guy and that is not getting a call. As athletic as Troy is, why doesn't he just take the ball strong to the group rather than trying to finger roll it in from various positions? hoosha61 and 8bucks 2 Quote
Hoosiers219 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 When you don't have any quality wins, this would be close to a quality win, if we were to secure it on the road. Too bad we were unable to capitalize. Quote
MoyeNeeded Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 This is a team that averages 22 3pt attempts/game connecting at 50%. Last night we passed on a lot of open looks and settled too much on trying to drive the lane. I love Yogi and Hartman but they seemed too hesitant to pull the trigger from deep last night. We win games when we shoot the 3 ball. Roughly 35% of our scoring comes from behind the arc. Embrace what you do well. If we are not hitting we seem to rebound the long misses at a better clip. Our rebounding from the guard position is better than most. Quote

chitown hoosier Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I know complaining about ft's are usually a cop out but when you have 1 player attempting more ft's than the other team then it is a problem. It's not more so that Hayes was getting a lot of ticky tack calls, it's that IU wasn't getting the same calls. I'm sorry, Wisconsin doesn't play defense without their hands as well. It's absurd to think that they play that much better without fouling at home than away. If you look at the box score, it's a game IU should've won. Josh and waitingon6 2 Quote
coonhounds Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I feel better today. Nobody said nothing to me at work about this game is one reason. The other is it choose to believe crean that we had some guys not feeling well and two we put up a good fight last night and that is important that it continues. Looking at the schedule we have two games we should win at home and another tough road game but if we win those we get a chance at Iowa who will probably have one loss like us but if not should have one after that game. Our guys need to regroup if they do that we will be just fine. Don't let a tough road loss take away a month of good basketball. mamasa, ALASKA HOOSIER and maxwell 3 Quote
