MartintheMopMan Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 that'll throw the defense off guard!! Let's run yogi & zeis on the blocks. Troy and TB switching at the point & Priller on the wing. Yeah? Let's not pretend this play isn't in that giant playbook. MemphisHoosier, Ranger78, Class of '66 Old Fart and 2 others 5 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Let's give Hartman some love too. He might have been in a bit of foul trouble but he did a pretty damn good job on Shields. I really like to see OG develop as that lock down athletic wing too. He has solid instincts and the athletic ability to make the play. Napleshoosier, IUsafety, ALASKA HOOSIER and 4 others 7 Quote

716e11th Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I think Nebraska played good defense and made it really hard for us to drive the ball. Besides the chronic turnovers, we played a really solid offensive game. Dishing inside to TB, finding the open 3, and hitting the driving man on the baseline. On defense - it was the first time I've noticed us making really good switches to the point it looked like we knew what we were doing. It still needs to improve but showed life. colonel06 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Finished the game pretty good. Pleased with that. OG looked great and we got senior leadership from yogi and Max right when Nebraska looked to make it a close one. Good job Hoosiers! We beat wisky and OSU in a ugly or pretty fashion and I will start feeling good about this season again. Maybe this ends up being a grind it out team.. This may be a team that can grind it out at the end better than the opposition. I think I saw a glimpse of that again yesterday with the Huskers not quite able to have as much mo in last 5 minutes. I hope that strength and conditioning program is more than the show it appears and actual dividends show up in the W column. Ranger78 1 Quote

USMCHoosier Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Sad fact, our defense is better with Blackmon on the bench. OG is going to be a player. I would greatly limit JBJ's minutes until he learns to play defense. Ranger78 and Tom White 2 Quote
Popular Post WestCoast Hoosier Posted January 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2016 I always think it’s most interesting, as an observer, to note things that are NOT commented on by the professional observers. In this case, that would be the following: 1. Everyone has been saying that the Hoosiers go the way that Troy Williams goes. If we have good Troy, we win. If we have bad Troy, we lose. But in this case, I think we had bad Troy, and we still won. That is, in my view, significant, and has been ignored by all the commentators that I have read. 2. Blackmon has been out for the last two games. As much as coach Crean has tried to say that he adds another dimension, we have won two games, on the road, without him. 3. This last one is more of a cumulative comment than one based purely on the last game, but it seems to me that the current Indiana offense is designed to rush things. Rushing things results in more errors. Thus it is almost by design that Indiana’s offense commits a large number of turnovers. In essence, the coaching staff is making a trade off between the benefits of rushing constantly and the negatives inherent therein. If you rush, all the time, of necessity, you are going to have more turnovers. But it can still be a net benefit. Of course, having said that, you always preferred to cut down on turnovers regardless of how fast you are playing. But it is somewhat inherent in the offensive strategy. USMCHoosier Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 the next 7 games or so look very favorable for IU...they legit could win them all and find themselves in the top 10 or 15...it's those last 10-12 games(I'm including postseason) that we will find what this team is made of. I don't know what IU team you have been watching. Quote
mdn82 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I don't know what IU team you have been watching. One that plays their hardest games at home. Easy games on the road and is 12-3? Which team are you watching? ou812dude and Str8Hoosiers 2 Quote

I am watching a team that continues to turn the ball over and is a work in progress defensively. Certainly I am not watching a team that is top 10-15. Most teams that fall in this category have flaws they need to improve. If iu was to win the next 7 games like he pointed out then it would not be a stretch to see them in the top 15-25. For me I'm not concerned with what ranking is beside the name I'm more concerned about the team improving as the season moves on. The one ranking I do look forward to is the one at the end of the year when the committee shows their s-curve seed ranking ( ranking the teams in the tounament 1-68) Ranger78, Parakeet Jones and Class of '66 Old Fart 3 Quote
Ranger78 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Team in progress basically sums it up. This team could catch fire down the road; they have the talent to be top 10. I hope they start playing with a chip on their shoulder and man up. If they take "US vs the world" mentality, they could be lights out. lillurk 1 Quote

Other teams in that range are not. Our schedule (which we are favored over our next 7) is favorable. If we lose more than 1 I wouldn't be happy. But if 5-2 makes some happy as a mod I am thrilled but I don't buy that. We have went 7-0 our last 7 and people act as if we were 0-7. So as much as I wish 5-2 would make some happy I only think 8-0 in our next 7 with winning by 65 is the only way. IUsafety, Parakeet Jones, Class of '66 Old Fart and 3 others 6 Quote

I see the schedule, I am just not overly confident with a team that gives me little to no confidence. Quote
