This was the first game in a long time where I completely forgot to listen to the game or check the score. I seriously can't remember the last time I did that. I never used to miss one... even the cupcakes. This season just has the same feel as Davis' and Sampson's last years.

 

But thanks to those who are posting their thoughts on this game in the thread. The scoring numbers for Yogi and rebounds for Troy were crazy. Not sure how much it means long-term, though.

I forgot all about this game too. There goes my prediction league standings. I just so happened to look on here and realize they were playing. I listened to the first half but watched Wild Russia on Animal Planet during the second half. I guess you can tell I wasn't much into the game.

The game was somewhat odd.  While we jumped out to a big lead, the lead dropped to 14 points midway in the second half and was just 18 or 19 points with 4 or 5 minutes to go.  Not the right situation to empty the bench. 

 

The two best defensive efforts were RJ and Harrison Niegro. 

 

This game was called ridiculously close in open space. Both teams had 10 fouls with 5 or 6 minutes to go in first half.  IFPW had 5 fouls in the first 5 possessions of the second half. We ended up with 5 quick fouls after theirs.

 

Yogi's 38 points were extremely efficient and was not the result of selfish play.

 

Troy had 13 rebounds in the first half.  He went for several minutes in the second half where he was not even near a rebound.  Then all of a sudden he picks up 6 more rebounds.

-No way troy gets drafted. Not a chance. No way. Not this year anyways, he continues to play out of control and dribbles the ball way to high. How as no coached told him about this?!

 

-Yogi had a QUITE 38...

 

-RoJo was nice. Good for him. 

 

 

Overall, it was a boring game. I wasn't impressed with our defense at all. Only thing that impressed me was Rojo and Yogi scoring 38 somehow.

Was ugly and hard to watch.At times IPFW scored at ease. Literally Troy Williams watched people blow by along with Ziesloft. Blackmon was a ghost on both ends.

I could only listen last night, so I won't comment too much, but we sounded bad.  Fischer was none to happy with our turnovers or Troy's out of control play.  

 

From what I heard it was probably a good thing we played a cupcake last night.

Troy getting drafted is going to entirely come down to his ability to convince NBA scouts his current issues are the result of coaching. If they believe he wants to improve but has not been provided the resources he needs, they'll grab him on potential alone. The game changes a little if he would return to a different coach for his senior year. They might encourage it to see if he is capable of change with improved coaching. I think he's still very draftable to the right scouts because all his downsides are teachable. You can't teach his athleticism or speed.

I agree, I mean, it's either a problem with coaching or Troy is entirely unteachable. I think it's likely Troy doesn't make it any easier or independently try and fix his problems like he should (like VO would have done), but I can't put the blame solely on him.

This team can beat anyone if they play any sort of defense. They can outgun a lot of teams. Will they though? Haven't seen anything that says so.

Troy has spent time training at summer camps away from Crean. I don't know that it's entirely coaching, but I also don't think Troy is uncoachable. He just seems to be developing very slowly.

These last two basketball seasons have really brought my worst self out. Last night I didn't watch, listen, check tweets, or care at all. I just spent time reading and watching Winnie the Pooh with my kids. I have to say....That was one of the most relaxing winter nights I've had in a long time. I've said it before, but I've been beaten into submission with Indiana Basketball. I'll root them on but I'm not sure my passion will ever reach the levels it was prior to now. Just a feeling of apathy and indifference.

 

This may be sacrilegious but I watched Purdue play the other night and they were really fun to watch. There are not 10 team in America better than them. They can win it all.

I don't think many of you fully understand the importance of 'deflections' (not to be confused with 'defections') to our team.   One definition I found for the word 'deflection' is:  "a turning aside or deviation from a straight line."   Therefore, if JBJ steps aside so his man can make a straight drive to the bucket, JBJ has 'turned aside' and is therefore credited with a deflection.  Or, if Troy holds his position and his man drives around Troy while Troy is yelling "ole", Troy too is credited with a deflection because he caused his man to deviate from a straight line to the bucket.  Keep this is mind the next time you hear number of deflections being lauded in a post-game interview.
