Rounding out the '16 class...

Recommended Posts

Don't mean to sound like Mr Obvious, but even if JBJ stays we will still have a class of at least 6 including a transfer?

What do you mean?

We currently have two spots open for 2016 and 3 committed.

Oh, you mean if Troy leaves and JBJ stays, it will still be 6 spots?

Yes. You are right. Anyone leaving who isn't a senior will push us over 5 spots.

Stating the obvious here....but this class is so key for CTC. He needs to not only have successful seasons (as defined by the IU fanbase) but have sustained success. People have short-term memories and dwell on negatives but if we can be competing for Big Ten Championships and consistently getting high seeds in the tourney and making some deep runs, CTC will be employed here and the fanbase will respond positively.

Getting DD was huge let's hope TB learns from the Vonleh experience and stays another year to develop and improve his skillset. I think there is an outside chance JBJ stays so we could be locked and loaded next year, especially if we add a Brown/Alkins/Maker to the mix.

TB (DD w/ Juwan/OG/Maker at the 4)

DD (Juwan) Maker?

CH (OG) Rawle?

JBJ (Cujo)

RJ (Newkirk)

We were one of if not the first to offer Alkins but we don't seem to be mentioned that prominently with him.
At this point I think we should make Brown our #1 priority and show him all the love we can.
In the long run he may be a better fit as he's not seen as a 1 & done type but could bring the defensive physicality at the guard position this team sorely needs.
I'm not saying give up on Alkins at all but I really think Brown is the more viable option and the resources should be directed more towards him.

Think Jim Thomas!

I loved Jim Thomas back in the day.

Jim Thomas. Perfect comparison. Nicely done.

If Blackmon stays and we get Brown. Do you think we'd go with a Brown, Rojo, Blackmon, lineup with two traditional bigs and no traditional SF. Or start OG instead of one of those three at the 3?

I think it will be much easier to play with a 3 guard lineup due to having a frontcourt of DD and TB. They will shore up the paint and rebound very well.

I think OG would have to really improve to justify starting over Rojo.  But if he did wow.
