Family Traditions/IU Basketball Memories

As yet another exciting season of IU Basketball is about to tip off---I have some exciting news of my own to share.  My son is a senior in high school and just recently got accepted to IU!  It's the only school he applied to as he is a true Hoosier. I don't know where he gets that!  :wink:  He is following in the tradition of his grandpa (my dad), me, and my wife who all attended IU as well. My dad recently passed away from cancer but I will never forget him taking me to campus and games and I love going to games with my son as well. I hope my son gets to experience a continued resurgence of IU basketball and a National Championship like I did when I was on campus. I can still remember the sound and the feeling of the whole town of Bloomington erupting in a deafening roar when Smart hit "The Shot" against Syracuse. I will never forget the entire campus rushing to The Fountain and Kirkwood for the celebration and then welcoming Knight and the boys back to The Hall.  I hope my son and Hoosiers everywhere get to have those types of memories again soon. And-now I have the perfect excuse to go to BTown a lot next year!

My son is a senior as well. He is afraid to apply at IU because he doesn't want to fail in not getting accepted. I keep telling him he will. His grades aren't the best but his test scores are awesome

It's my freshman year here right now and I'm loving it. Both my parents went here too. In fact, my mom was at the championship game when Smart hit "The Shot" against Syracuse. Hopefully I can witness a championship in my time here as well!

Piece of advice: IU loves out-of-staters. Give it a shot, kid!
