Indian Hills won 109 to 68. No box score available because apparently the community colleges aren't good at updating their website. I had to use 7 seconds of my 90 second boxcast preview to grab the score.

Guilty of straying off topic, but I found an article in the Ottumwa, IA newspaper about the game and despite the score, there was no mention whatsoever of Holt in the article but there was no box score so can't tell if he played or didn't.

I found an article that listed him as a starter, but nothing else. Doesent appear he was one of the top 4 scorers

I have been a fan of Emmitt and Devin D as players, but let's face it...Max Bielfeldt is likely to be a better player for us than either of them.

I'd rather have Max than Holt but I think Holt at least had the potential to be a better player. But, it's really hard to tell from a single scrimmage and without ever seeing how Holt developed over a summer. Max brings experience and leadership we sorely needed however, his ability to help direct TB is more valuable than what Holt would bring.

Agree. Was not insinuating that we should have kept Holt, just meant it would be nice to have some experienced depth behind Max.

Would be better to have players who provide depth and some maturity off the court. Hope OG and Morgan can meet those expectations.

Colin Hartman is nice player and I'm glad we have him, but he's not an interior defender or rebounder. This team could use true interior depth, like real big guys.

CH?

I have not looked that close this year as to if he is doing a better job defending down low or on the perimeter.  Are you suggesting he is a perimeter defensive player,or just below average standards for defending down low?

I'm suggesting that he's not an interior player. Do you really consider Colin Hartman a power forward? He's not a guy that can defend or rebound with Perry Ellis, Robert Carter, Caleb Swanigan, Marcus Lee, etc. The good teams in college basketball have 4's that are two inches taller and a heck of a lot more athletic than Hartman.

I don't mean this as a bash Hartman post. I like Hartman and think he'll play an important role this year, but he's not really an interior player. That stint starting at the 5 last year was a bit smoke/mirrors.

You let me know when this Indiana team hits your satisfactory level of ‘good’.  I get the feeling that Hartman along with everyone of the players on this team (experienced and freshmen) have absolutely busted their rear ends this summer for knowledgeable and loyal fans like yourself.  Win or lose, I will enjoy watching this group of guys take their collective strengths and compete with the heart and hustle of a Hartman against all teams, especially those loaded with 'real big men'.

I don't understand this response. He intentionally said its not a bash against Hartman. Hartman is a Hoosier and we are all rooting for his and IUs success but his post was correct in the sense of the NCAA as a whole. "Big Men" are generally 6'8 or taller at the 4 and 5. Granted some schools play unconventional and against those teams it's fair to have Hartman guarding the 4 or 5. But Hartman or Yogi for that matter should never have to guard Hammons.

Additionally, smart coached teams EASILY take advantage of Crean's "switch all" philosophy. This coaching decision is nearly as bad as changing defenses mid shot clock.

Ummmm, ok. Not sure what you're talking about.

I said I'm glad we have Hartman and that he'll play an important role this season. He's not a power forward though. Not sure why that upsets you so much?

I'm curious where you stood with the Hoosiers pre-Crean. For the most part I can figure out people's history with the team, but I'm lazy. The points of comparison depending on when someone started watching are always interesting to me. I wish we could tag posters so I could see that info quickly. You're a recent alum so probably born post championship?

Yep, born in 93' so the only thing i got to witness was our 2001 game.. that was a heartbreaker.

I've grown up a major IU fan, beyond crazy about the team. Major poster over on the scout board when it was popular. Just ever since we lost to Cuse.. i just sort of lost interest. Tom Crean really messed me up haha. Pre-Crean i was a huge fan..

My time as a student was quickly highlighted when we were #1 with Vic and Cody and company.. Will be telling my kids all about the dunk Vic almost had on Michigan.
