(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State

Recommended Posts

My enthusiasm has declined greatly as the news Marni met him but is not following him on twitter

The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

While a Marni follow is a fairly predictive way of determining who we are really in good with, the lack of a Marni follow is not as predictive. Numerous recruits commit without it.

Albers:

I’m told Indiana and Mississippi State will make the final 3 for 2016 F Mario Kegler. The third finalist yet to be determined. #iubb

Final spot seems to be a toss up between Maryland, Baylor, ASU

I would feel much more comfortable if it wasn't Maryland. I think we can beat out Mississippi State, I'm less sure about Maryland, especially in the middle of all the hype they're getting for the upcoming season. Let's try and put two in the win column that doesn't count before he makes his decision and show our strength.

idk about beating out Mississippi state for this one, they are his home school and have a pretty good recruiting class that includes Tyson carter, one of his friends. They scare me more than anyone else

The thing about it for me, is between Miss State and us the choice is a clear matter of preferences. That is, if he decides things like playing with his friends or playing near home are important, then he's going to go with them and there's nothing we could really do to compete. Against a school like Maryland, there are a lot more nuances where we could lose out because of something we thought was minor. Size of other players, expected returning class, recruits we're in good with, role selection. All the nitty gritty stuff. It's just easier for us to differentiate significantly with Miss State.

It's got to be us, MSU and Maryland. If the yet to be determined is from Kegler its not Maryland. If it's on Albers that means nothing.

Miss and us have a lot of advantages in the fact he has a pretty good idea who his teammates will be Maryland is more a toss up.

Agree with all you said here, but one thing I'd like to add is that Howland is coaching there now. He can preach tourney success, development of players, and getting talent to the NBA. I realize it was at UCLA, but that has to appeal to kids to play for a coach like that, especially when it's your home state school that you can help bring to the top. I can see the appeal for Kegler with MSU, even though I believe IU is the best place for him
