IU Hoosier41

Top Fan Favorite Players

Recommended Posts

I really wish I had been around IU basketball back in the early 60's to watch Jimmy Rayl. Talk about a guy who did some amazing things. His two 56-point nights, both in Big Ten play, for the Hoosiers with all long range shots pre 3-point line would have been something to behold.

I have vague recollections of watching Rayl, the Van Arsdales and Jon McGlocklin on tv with my Dad. Sadly, I was way too young to appreciate their talents at the time.

A player that needs to be mentioned is Uwe Blab.
I remember opposing fans laughing at him as a frosh.Hands of stone.
They weren't laughing when he was a senior. He pretty much had his way in the post at that point.
I really admired that guy.

That's funny I had never seen a picture of Blab. In my mind I pictured him as a black guy. I had Tijan in mind for who he resembled for some reason.

Nope,The Big Redhead.

There's a story that after what I think was his sophomore season Knight being frustrated with his lack of progress meet with him and gave him a one way ticket to Germany.

He worked hard and came back a much improved player.I'm not kidding, the guy couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time when he arrived here.

Turned out All Big Ten.Gotta love a guy like that.

I can't believe there isn't more love for Roderick Wilmont!  Dude brought it every night, always hustling.

Pair him with a couple more southern boys in AJ Moye and DJ White, and there's proof that you don't have to be from the midwest to be perfect Indiana players.

Uwe had the worst free throws ever, lol!

Yes he did.  I wish I could remember who the opponent was, but the game was on the line with Uwe on the line.  He shot, it hit the iron and must have went 6 feet into the air and came right back down - nuthin' but net.

Oh that's tough. I have a pretty small window though of years I've been watching. You have to like AJ Moye. Tom Coverdale. Marco Killingsworth. DJ White. The starting 5 for the 12-13 team plus Sheehey. Wilmont. Eric Gordon. I liked Jeremiah Rivers too for some reason. For me...
My favorite was Cody. After that probably Vic. And then.... Uhh... Tom Pritchard. The Put Back King.

I predominantly use the app and it's easy to change avi from there. Go to the "People" tab and click on your own username and you should be able to edit your avi photo from there.
