(2016) SG Grant Gelon commits to IU

looks like Sasha is still there best player. Sasha was defiantly the best player on the floor when I watched them at southport

sacha took and hit the game tying shot. I think you mentioned Sacha took the end of game shots in the game you watched. Gelon reminds me of a Hartman in terms of HS impact. Hartman was always second to Jalen Coleman-Lands(do I have the right name?). Stats were generally unimpressive. Hartman is a solid role player for us, Gelon still can be that Roth/Ziesloft type.

I get it in that sense.

in the high school games I watched of Hartman he looked miles ahead of where gelon is right now. I wouldn't say that Hartman was always 2nd to Coleman( he added lands to his name to honor someone). I watched Coleman struggle against Ben Davis his freshman year while Hartman kept them in the game and hit some big shots at the end of the game

Gelon had 31 earlier this year: 3 threes a couple more points for 11 of the teams 1st 13 points.

I remember this kid named Alonzo Mourning, that was held to 4 points in a game his senior year.

I remember this kid named Jeff Hedges that was held to 4 points in a game his senior year.

Never heard of him right? That's because he wasn't D1 nor NBA caliber..

How much has to do with teams doubling Gelon? Denying him the ball at all costs? Subsequently giving Sasha easy opportunities?

i would say every top prospect gets doubled and sometimes tripled team and kids manage to find a way to get their points but maybe he hasn't seen that before and will learn to adjust to being doubled. I look forward to watching him again later in the year to see him have a better game then he had

Makes sense, I don't watch a lot of high school ball and when I've seen Romeo (new Albany) play he wasn't doubled at all so I wasn't sure how much that happened but thought I read the GG was ball denied in a gamelan by multiple defenders...

On the other hand if you have a good second option why force it... Smart team ball to not force

I'm not sure what that showed.

I'm sure I'll hear though

romeo is a special talent, I watched him at the southport tournament against pike drop 30 and pike tried to bring multiple defenders at him anytime he touched it. He shredded their defense at times.
