Assembly Hall Renovations

Recommended Posts

I drive by this everyday. It's so depressing but really awesome at the same time. It looks really uncontrolled though lol. Like the window shards are still kind of sitting in the frames like someone threw rocks through them.

Ah---the great memories.  As an old schooler----I find this bittersweet--- but I know it's needed and I am one who is glad it's just a remodel and not a total rebuild.

I was recently talking to some high schoolers getting ready to go to IU ---and we wondered if the remodel was going to include the new racing light packages that many arenas have that go around the entire upper level and are coordinated with sound----that would add to the awesome game day experience! Anybody know?

Even though I'm old school, I think we should have used this money as a start to a new facility. Seeing panels come tumbling down, the poor sight lines for a lot of the seats, and the never ending cost of upkeep just doesn't make a lot of sense. We won championships before Assembly Hall; the place is special but not historical and outdated compared to what can be built in todays world. Of course, I support the efforts and maybe one day soon I can bring my kids to a game. We would have a lot to talk about.

Saw an update today as they were tearing out the ramps. The building is basically open on that end until they get the Nunn addition completed, right?

Anything getting pulled out worth salvaging?

Just a couple skeletons from some media types who disappeared in the 1980's after asking stupid questions at one of Bob Knight's famous post-game press conferences---oh yeah--and Jimmy Hoffa whose organized crime syndicate began the play for pay program at rival Big Ten schools.  IU and Knight are denying any knowledge of how the bodies got there!

Just a little mid-day humor while we are waiting on Bielfeldt to decide!
