WayneFleekHoosier Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I wouldn't be shocked at all. He could be everything Hollowell was SUPPOSED to be. Hopefully, unlike Hoetzel, he is willing to work for it and not expect major PT out of the gates. HoosierTrav and GloryDays 2 Quote
biteoftheapple Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I think DD, and HMP leaving, OG will reap a large benefit. It moves TW to the 4, giving him opportunity at both the 2 and 3. HoosierTrav 1 Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Agree HoosierTrav! OG has always been one of my favorites since we started recruiting him----tall and extremely athletic---and a hard worker----an extremely deadly combination about to be released on other Big Ten teams! Put him on the Oladipo 3 year plan and I believe we will soon have another sleeper turned star. I honestly believe his location and his team's schedule in the Missouri area kept him from being higher ranked. I liked what I saw at the Derby Classic. scots07, ThompsonHoosier, barrettballer and 2 others 5 Quote
HoosierTrav Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 What are you basing your optimism on?. He's an elite athlete with very good size. He also shoots the ball very well and is considered a lock down defender. The best excuse I've seen from scouting services, as to why he's ranked so low is bc he developed so late into his career and that they haven't seen enough of him. He was one of the 5 best players at the derby classic. GloryDays, mamasa, scots07 and 2 others 5 Quote

TW was playing the 4 anyway. We will play 3 of the 4 guards with Troy and TB. I do think we will see some times with TW, CH, and TB together, but to think that with HMP or DD that we would start Troy at the 3 goes against everything we have seen out of CTC since day 1. Our 4 will be a stretch 4, not a high post or low post 4, everyone wants to think that with a couple of bigs that will change, but it won't. The sooner you come to that realization the less stress you will have during the season bnkepner, jonz44 and Lt. John McClaine 3 Quote
ElectricBoogaloo Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I'm not going to count on any freshman to contribute much besides Bryant. We may have to wait another year to see what OG is able to provide. Stuhoo, KingPG21 and pumpfake 3 Quote

Calling him a major sleeper suggest to me he should be able to do much more for us next year than Holt did. Perhaps close to Rojos contribution. I think he can be pretty good and expect him to give us what Holt did but not sure yet what major sleeper really means for productivity on the court. Quote
Beachfront Property Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Minutes are going to be hard to come by for OG. The best way for him to get on the floor is to become a lock-down defender, which is a pretty big ask for a freshman. However, he has all the physical tools to become a very good defender. I think this last year showed that we shouldn't count people out before the season starts. We had two freshman start and Holt played really good minutes for us. Holt was forced into the lineup early because of injuries/suspensions but as of now, OG and Morgan will be forced into quick playing time because of DD and HMP being kicked off the team. IMHO Holt could have made a significantly larger impact last season, had he not had to share mins with HMP. GloryDays 1 Quote

djsalway Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 As long as he's willing to stick with it and not jump ship after a year of not playing much, he will be a solid 4 year player. And I love 4 year players. But I don't expect a whole lot out of him this year. Parakeet Jones 1 Quote
iubirdman Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I think one of the previous posters had it correct, I think OG can develop into what most of us thought Hollowell could. Has a plus skill set and seems to have a solid motor and has been getting better and better the last few years. scots07 1 Quote
