Rasheed Sulaimon to Maryland

Recommended Posts

How concerned should we be after hearing this? With Melo back and one of the top big man recruits. I'm kinda scared this puts Maryland on top of the big 10. How much of a difference do you think he will have on the big ten race this year? Does this change your perspective on the big ten standings?

Transfer Robert Carter from Georgia Tech will also be eligible this year. He was a former 5 star recruit and is 6'8" and will immediately find a place in the rotation. They will be tough that's for sure.

Yea in the conference changes nothing, were the favorite, still are the favorite.  On a national level however they are a legit contender for the title as well.  Of course this is assuming he can stay out of trouble and this does not implode on them.  If he stays clean and just plays they may be preseason #1

I have this feeling that playing time will be an issue for them. I can see some team chemistry issues for them as well . We'll see.

No we aren't. Maryland was and still is above us

I didn't really appreciate the fact that Maryland was the consensus favorite to win the Big Ten (before the Sulaimon commitment). I think they over-performed last year( just look at their wins against Penn State and NW) and we underperformed (our late-season collapse). I think we had a higher ceiling going into next year before Maryland picked up Sulaimon and now I'd say we're about even.

Yogi = Trimble

Troy > Layman

JBJ > Nickens?

Bryant = Stone

Our Bench > Their Bench

They question of leadership and consistency come in to play which is why I think Maryland's been given the upper hand.

They now have Carter, Sulaimon too.  Plus Wiley and Dodd.  They have significant talent PLUS and MOST importantly for prognosticators, they were very good this past year with about the same roster.  We were just decently good with about the same roster.  Biggest factor!

Forgot about Carter, you're right he'll provide a boost too.

I just didn't like the fact they were the unanimous leaders of the conference (pre-Sulaimon commitment)

Lol, we aren't even. Man some of you guys truly struggle to not look at things through some awfully rosy colored glasses

Maryland is the clear favorite to win the B1G. I honestly think we are neck and neck with them though on paper. Our entire dynamic has changed with the addition of Thomas Bryant. We have the best PG in the league and have experience and depth at the forward position. Diamond Stone is ranked above Thomas Bryant but everytime I've seen them go head to head, Thomas Bryant outplayed and out hustled Stone. I'd take his motor and defensive/rebounding tenacity any day of the week. Especially considering our style of play. Call it rose colored glasses all you want but Maryland hasn't done anything at all to make me shake at the knees. Loaded roster on paper, while not having sone anything previously and ramping up the hype machine. I like us to contend for a share or outright B1G title.
