IU Hoosier41

OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season

Recommended Posts

I'll be honest.  As I drove into work today I was thinking about the IU roster.  We can survive without Yogi.  This is the first time I've believed this.  Do I want him back?  Heck ya, but we would survive just fine.  Our preseason accolades would take a major dip.

If DD is doing as well as reported he will get some run.  Hartman, Hanner, Morgan, Holt.  Plenty of guys to get into the mix.  Problem is instead of being preseason #8-15 we would be #18-UR.

I want to believe your right but RoJo has work to do to become the primary ball handler.

He showed promise but also turned the ball over at a high rate late in the Big. I think some of it may have been fatigue, both mental and physical.

I would feel a lot better with another point in the fold even if Yogi is back.

Agree, we need another true point guard regardless if Yogi returns or not.

For the record, I do not believe Yogi is going to return. I hope I am wrong.

Matt Norlander at CBS Sports wrote this as the last paragraph in the Blackmon-to-stay story:

With the expectation that Yogi Ferrell will follow Blackmon's lead and stay, we currently rank Indiana No. 13 in our Ridiculously Early Top 25 (and one). Ferrell's decision will come on Saturday. He's making his choice public at an Indianapolis Ruth's Chris Steak House.

I think I know the answer to this but I'm not sure is there a way to declare for the draft but not sign with an agent and if you don't like where you're drafted or go undrafted can you return to college

Many of you have expressed distaste for what you perceive to be an ego trip for a simple "stay or go" announcement from Yogi tomorrow evening.  I've maintained there's more to it than that and in less than 30 hours we'll know which of us is right.   But assume there is more to it than a simple "stay or go", what other news might we hear?   Is it conceivable that Yogi relinquishes his scholy for his senior year at IU which then has TB's name on it and solves the oversigned problem - at least temporarily?  Farfetched?  Of course it is, but for the next 30 hours I'm going to remain optimistic that there's a much bigger motive behind the steak dinner.

If Yogi stays, how great would it be to land Hyron Edwards and redshirt him for 2015-2016?

Hyron could spend a year practicing against one of the best point guards in the country, which would allow him to really step his game up enough to take the reins in 2016.

Having seen Hyron play, I really don't think he is high major material. He also currently doesen't have the grades or test score to qualify so probably not happening

Ah, well really any point guard will do.  I just think it'd be so beneficial to give a kid a full year to learn the ropes and practice against guys like Yogi, Blackmon, and Johnson every day.

When was the last time Crean redshirted a player for any reason besides injury? He runs a contribute or leave type of program.

He doesn't even redshirt for injuries (see: Roth and Creek). Redshirting goes against his philosophy of oversigning and purging his roster in search of upgrades every spring.
