KingPG21 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Is anybody else as good as Calipari at taking #1 ranked recruits and turning them into undrafted players? That really isn't fair at all. If anything it is more of a sign that recruiting rankings can be utter crap Quote
Josh Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Isn't the coach responsible for evaluating high school talent too? Regardless of whose fault it is, nobody can take a highly regarded player and get them drafted lower than projections out of high school like Calipari can. Quote
swatford Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Interesting he's only now interested in the job after swinging and missing on all those burger boys Quote

IUALUMNI2003 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 We've heard this one before. Denial means nothing. Said the same thing when he was at Memphis and we know how that turned out. Quote
MikeRoberts Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 In all seriousness, where did the Harrisons get the money to buy mom that car? They are college students. What agent would give them the money for that in advance of maybe not even being drafted? They could both go undrafted, neither receive a contract not get any guaranteed money and be playing in the D-League making less than that car cost WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

I'm sure their agent knows what he's doing. Plus, that car isn't a Lamborghini or anything. Quote

Hutch89 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Can we further discuss the rumors of Cal to Pelicans?? http://www.nola.com/pelicans/index.ssf/2015/05/john_calipari_interested_in_pe.html Not sure who the "source" is for most of the articles out there right now, but it's rumored that Pelicans were willing to pay around $4 to $5 million, while Cal currently makes $8MIL. Interesting to note that he hasn't signed that contract extension that UK offered recently... "But Calipari makes about $8 million annually and recently agreed to a one-year contract extension through 2022, which he hasn't yet signed." Is there a "standard" time that NBA teams will usually hire on a new coach during the offseason? Whether Cal is actually interested or not, I'm curious to see how this all plays out and if the article is true or rubbish. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Calipari tweeted that he had no interest in the job after the source came out and news broke. I actually believe it this time. Hope I'm wrong. Quote

bnkepner Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Coaches always say they won't take an NBA job but look at Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens. Billy Donovan isn't the best example because he of his incident with the Orlando Magic a few years back. Plus Cal has already coached in the NBA before. Quote
Popular Post Stuhoo Posted May 20, 2015 Popular Post Posted May 20, 2015 Sooo.....today, Calipari once again revealed himself (in a major way): Calipari said the goal last season was to get eight players drafted, not win the national title. “Last year we started the season with a goal,” he told the Alltech Rebelation crowd. “You may think that goal was to win the national title and win all the games and be… It was to get eight players drafted.” Vomit-worthy truths from the coach with no regard for the 'student' part of 'student-athlete'. rodmilbourn Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 WOW. What a selfish motive. Really?? Goal was not to have a TEAM EFFORT Championship! Only promote. 8 guys ' personal agenda!!?? SMH. Quote
IUALUMNI2003 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I dislike Calipari, but I am pretty sure the context was if he gets 8 players by the end of the in position to be drafted to the NBA, then everything else should come along with that (i.e. winning, championships, etc.). It is skewed by that quote. Quote
