Is anybody else as good as Calipari at taking #1 ranked recruits and turning them into undrafted players?

That really isn't fair at all. If anything it is more of a sign that recruiting rankings can be utter crap

Isn't the coach responsible for evaluating high school talent too?  Regardless of whose fault it is, nobody can take a highly regarded player and get them drafted lower than projections out of high school like Calipari can.

They could both go undrafted, neither receive a contract not get any guaranteed money and be playing in the D-League making less than that car cost

Chances are at least one of them will get drafted and end up signing a contract. I'm sure their agent knows what he's doing. Plus, that car isn't a Lamborghini or anything.

Many of the largest banks have departments that cater to the pro athlete and will make these kinds of loans "on the come".  Even if they go overseas, they'll likely make enough to make the payments.

Not sure who the "source" is for most of the articles out there right now, but it's rumored that Pelicans were willing to pay around $4 to $5 million, while Cal currently makes $8MIL.  Interesting to note that he hasn't signed that contract extension that UK offered recently...

He's 'non-traditional', as in he's a college coach but his primary goal is putting players in the NBA.

I dislike Calipari, but I am pretty sure the context was if he gets 8 players by the end of the in position to be drafted to the NBA, then everything else should come along with that (i.e. winning, championships, etc.).  It is skewed by that quote.
