Ryan, Few, or Miller would be OK. I highly doubt Ryan is going anywhere at this time in his career, he should retire at Wisky. Overall, not really sure any of them on that list would be where I would go looking.

Bo Ryan, given the type of fundamental hoops that he coaches and believes in, but as a realistic option for a new coach Billy Donovan...he is a proven winner with teams that he recruited.

Then so is Coach K, Roy, Izzo, etc. All have had dirt thrown at them and accused of doing shady things to get players. Recruiting is a dirty game. To win banners one hads to be able to negotiate through that and not break the rules but dealing with handlers is let of the deal.

Except Self has also had a couple  years in a row of his best players being found academically ineligible right before the season or during. He probably has more violations in that regard than most in recent years

This totally theoretical because none of them is coming to IU. If I was an AD and was looking for a long term solution, I would go with Miller. I would like to have had Ryan 7 years ago. You feel like once he gets his players that he would build a sustainable program.

I'm saying Self isn't different than any other coach outside of Bo Ryan who people have mentioned. Crean has had players ruled ineligible. K has players with Jewelry. Roy has academic issues. Izzo has had shadiness with the Dawson recruitment. Cali has middle men. Pearl has BBQs, Sampson has phone calls. Basically if you recruit kids in the top 25 talent pool you are going to get a little dirty. It's all about keeping the school out of trouble and not passing the line.

Self has same problem as Crean. Can't coach in March. Assuming March is the most important consideration: Izzo and Coach K by far the best but obviously never available. Miller and Donovan realistic wish listers
