It's the administration. They don't want IUBB to have the power it did under Knight or be the face of the university. This is the same mentality that led to IU looking to bring in Brad Brownell in if Crean said no amidst the state of the program.

Head coaches only get 2 free passes in mind. Their first and second season. By their third season they have 3 classes of kids they recruited, the last two being kids they really want.
Every head coach gets a pass in their first two years in my book regardless of sport.

First two years makes sense. So many want to throw away his third year because the leap in results didn't occur until the next year

At this point, assuming Crean is staying another year, I would say Glass has hitched his wagon to Crean. That's not an enviable position. Do you really trust that guy to go out and win 25+ games next year to save both of your jobs?
