I hate the Kentucky argument.

They went to the NIT after an Elite Eight, 2 FFs, and a championship. And the following season were runner-ups. They aren't comparable down seasons.

I dont' believe for a second that Yogi and Troy would follow Crean. Especially Troy. What would they have to gain? Yogi needs a ton of exposure to make it to the NBA. Troy wants to go sooner than later.

i agree...troy is projected 24th in the draft, he would leave...yogi idk

catfish hughes who writes for the SI fansided hoosier site put up the rumor on his blog

The rumor is, Tom Crean will leave Indiana for the newly vacant Alabama coaching job. Yogi Ferrell will come with him. Ferrell is a junior, has graduated, and if he transfers he can play right away. There is also talk that Troy Williams will make the move south with Coach Crean.

Why would Crean give up $3 million a year? There is a few reasons.

Tom Izzo

We all know Alabama is a football school. Nick Saban is a god, and basketball is #2 or 3. Saban is involved in the hiring of the basketball coach, and Saban has a great relationship with Tom Izzo.

Izzo, the Michigan State basketball coach, was a mentor to Crean, and Crean was an assistant under him.

Crean’s Wife & Family

As Coach Crean said above, his wife isn’t happy. If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. Last week Crean’s son, Riley, was booed at his high school game in Bloomington with chants of “Tom Crean Sucks,” and more.

Classy move Indiana. Boo the son of your coach.

Indiana fans have been upset since the 2013 team was knocked out in the sweet 16 when the fans thought they should have won a title. Syracuse and Jim Boeheim beat those Hoosiers which featured a stacked roster including Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo.

That same IU team won the Big Ten outright for the first time in 20 years, was ranked #1 in the country, and had a great season.

Once again, classy move Indiana.

Now will Crean leave for the SEC and Alabama? It seems at this point that this is what Hoosier Nation needs. These classless fans need to realize that Indiana isn’t a top destination for recruits. Crean was trying his best to rebuild this program, but these ans want it right now. Look at Kentucky, two years ago they were in the NIT.

There is so many examples I could point at, but I won’t. If Crean leaves it will put the program back even more. If he leaves for a football school like Alabama, it will demoralize the program and state for a long, long time.

If Crean doesn’t leave, it should be at least some sort of a wake up call to Hoosier nation that Indiana just isn’t what it use to be, and a lot of that is due to classless fans…

All this was being said about pUKe when they fired Tubby.

By the way, classless fans or passionate fans? Depends on what side of the fence you are on.

This article is a new level of stupid. Not saying the rumor isn't true or anything but the writer takes it 10-15 steps further just to get clicks. Just really bad reporting.

i agree to a point but like he says at the end, for it to even be rumored alabama over indiana in basketball is bad news bears IMO well his opinion but my opinion..ijs

Troy is not in any of the mock drafts for next year. Not even as a second round pick…Troy is not going to the NBA after this season

you are right...i had false info from a site that isn't credible...he won't miss a year of playing though if crean leaves i don't think.

I see him solidly in the first round for next year, which simply means they don't think he jumps this year. If he jumps, he'd be high second round most likely

I think if you're already on a team (not a recruit) you'd lose a year, regardless. Might be wrong though.

If you have graduated or if you can prove that there is a hardship, which would usually mean that you are heading somewhere close to home. I believe that Troy would not qualify for either of these. Only recruits that have not participated yet can withdraw and compete for another school immediately. So Morgan and OG could back out and play somewhere else immediately.

It would serve a lot of we fans right if Yogi and Troy did follow Crean.
We'd become the 09 team with another mid-major coach and Crean would probably make the tournament with Yogi and 'Bama.

If we don't get a coach with multiple elite 8's or better, it's a failure.

Yogi has brought us so much, it would serve us right.

What exactly has yogi done to earn his revered status amongst iu fans? He's deff solid, but not irreplaceable

You say we'd be back where we were in 09 if crean leaves....doubt it.

Yogi-gone to pout

Holt-stays

Hartman-stays

Rj-stays

Zeisloft-believe he has another year, correct me if wrong, stays

Williams-draft or stays

Max-stays

Hanner-50/50

Devin-stays, won't want to sit out two straight years

Jbj- stays

Provided we get a real coach, that's no crap team with a solid coach

If he goes this year he won't be draft. I already said it but if you search all the recent mock drafts Troy's name doesn't appear on any of them and its already the end of the year, so that doesn't bode well

This is from an IU fan site???  It's absolute garbage.  And this guy calls us classless?  Somebody buy this guy a mirror.

Besides, I have it from a good source that the 3 high school kids who chanted "Tom Crean Sucks" are actually Kentucky fans.

I realize his name isn't on any of the mocks, but they don't list players in multiple mock draft years. For example; they aren't going to list Troy williams name in both 2015 and 2016, they predict who they think will come out. In the 2016 mock drafts I see him solidly in the first round, reasonable to infer then that he would be around a second round should he come out now.

Another example, in the 2016 mock draft they have Chris McCullough of Syracuse as the fifth overall pick, but he is missing from the 2015 mock, does that mean he would go from un drafted this year to fifth next year? No. It just means they don't expect him to come out this year.

I thought that's pretty obvious???
