No, students are FORCED to purchase tickets if they want basketball. Don't start with 'they choose to buy them' that's bull. If the tickets were sold stand alone, the student side would be nearly empty. Glass has got more than two losers in sporting programs and has only demonstrated his ability to spend money! Hell, I could be a favorite if I spent $150 mil for sports flash on campus. Results matter, so far, no good.

Most of the students I know prefer the football games to basketball? They aren't just IU basketball fans. If you hadn't noticed students aren't going to the games.

Of note...from Fred Glass

"This morning, I received an email from a woman who long ago was hospitalized for multiple suicide attempts. She rightfully objected to comments that I made in an interview with the Bloomington Herald-Times. Regrettably, I did say those things and was quoted accurately. The metaphor I used was insensitive, distasteful, and hurtful. Suicide and depression should never be referenced in such fashion. I was wrong to do so. I have apologized directly to the woman who wrote. I am now also publicly apologizing for my inappropriate remarks."

For the record, I cringed when I read that and immediately thought he was out of line. I get it that it was a joke and metaphor, but there is a time and place. An interview isn't either one of those.

I did as well but why did you cringe?  I didn't personally take offense to it although I've had some people very close to me either attempt to take their life or took their life.  I cringed because I figured something exactly like this would happen.  If people are so easily offended by stupid shit then don't read or don't watch.  It's just a pet peeve of mine.

Hmmmm.

Seeing the "F" bomb in print on here, to say nothing of the "derogatory comments", makes me wonder how I got a warning for dropping the word "boob" in a post, (and not even in the anatomical sense)?

Simply amazing...

In fairness, who would expect to be offended by IU's AD? I wouldn't say "Hey, look out for Fred Glass interviews because he says some pretty brutal stuff to the press." Comedians or movies and forums like that? Totally agree. But Glass was REALLY out of line with that metaphor and the "stage" he was on.

I only cringed because of how dumb the decision was to say that. Not because of what he said. Just because he actually said it and it would lead to this.

Think Glass should drop the requirement tying the tickets together?
