IU vs. MD Postgame Thread

Recommended Posts

This was the exact question my son was asking me as I tucked him in last night.  I told him that it is always possible.  As I was on my way out of his room he sighed and said, “I really wish we would have made this play or that play.”  I told him that I understood how he felt.  I then asked him the following questions: Did the players that missed opportunities let up on the defensive end after not making the play?  Do you think our players and their coaches did everything they could in preparation to win this game?  Do you feel that everyone on this team expected to win this game during the entire course of the game?  We agreed that it was an awesome game and our Hoosiers made us proud.  I then closed his door.

I went to the living room to begin watching the game again and pulled up btownbanners.  Curious to see if there would be as many positive statements as there have been over the last couple of days, I skimmed some of the game and post-game threads where I was amazed by the environment of this place.  I thought there must have been some special greeting page that had Hova giving out huge hugs that absolutely melted the hearts of everyone posting last night.  I appreciate the objectivity and I think/hope  it will make a positive impact on the families that are considering iubb for 2015 and 2016.

Chris Reynolds has been mentioned multiple times during this thread and I thought I would add that when that came to drawing a charge in crucial situations that it would be difficult for anyone to do it better than he did.  His feet were always moving.  The dude had to go through some serious shoes.  We currently have room for improvement, but you know …  I think our guys are making big strides on the defensive end.   You can tell this group wants it bad.

Here’s to great growth in preparation for Sunday.

^^I "liked" this post.^^

But if I could, I would "LIKE, LIKE, LIKE!" the post.

Defense, defense, defense. Who were those guys in the red shirts?

Best game of the year overall? Hard to argue that, at least effort-wise. If JBJ had just been "on" we might have won going away.

Trimble and Wells both showed why they are considered elite players. And still we went to the wire with them at their place.

Couldn't have asked for anything more other than just a little luck and maybe Troy making the front ends of those two-shot FTs.

No big deal but did anyone else catch that sign some terphead had made up that the cameraman quickly passed by once he read it?

Was a sign with a picture of one of our players reaching over and possibly kissing his mother (?) on the lips it looked like as I played it back frame by frame that said:

"IN BREDS."

I honestly didn't realize Buckner was a point. And Guyton completely slipped my memory. Reynolds is a good one to impress people. Thanks guys.

Guyton didn't really play point at IU. Lewis was our point during that time

I need some helIsaiah e from some of the old men...(looking at you Naples...) me and some frdeserves to bav his name spelled correctly.re trying to think of the best PG's in IU history. All we could come up with was Yogi and Isaiah. We thought Alford and Bailey were both 2 guards. Coverdale up there maybe? My iubb history just doesn't reach far enough back for guys I'm surely missing. So who are some of the other best PG's here ever? And is Isaiah the only guy ahead of (or maybe getting close to being even....??) Yogi?

I try not to be the grammar police, but the best point guard to play the game; a Hoosier legend; the reason behind one of our banners deserves to have his name spelled correctly.

I see it all the time and it drives me nuts....his name is spelled Isiah Thomas.

And now back to Blackmon missed shots.  :)

Guyton wasn't really the point, Michael Lewis was. He's also the all-time IU assists leader.

And Lewis threw the ball off some dudes have I believe...and hollered back at Knight...those two things plus the assist might make him GOAT. Lol

I still remembering thinking, "good for you Lewie!" when he barked at RMK.

Noted. That would bug me too if I would've known better already. "Blackman" really, really bothers me. His name is literally everywhere, Idk how you get that one wrong.

Wait another year. Please? Lol I've been impressed as hell with him this year.

If mama has a say, he's gone. She's proven that Troy is her cash cow as she is laughing all the way to the bank. He's playing quite well and I think he will be pro bound too. But selfishly, I hope he and Yogi both return.

I think her rant was misinterpreted and i miss her insight on here.  Regardless, Troy ain't going nowhere until he develops a consistent shot.  We've got another year out of him imo.

I finally got to get on here since i couldn't watch the game until last night. My observations:

God, it was good to see Indiana Basketball again. Everyone was moving, fighting, playing defense. I was extremely pleased with this game. Yogi~ You make my heart pidder padder! please stay another year.

Troy~ good play last night. Develop a jumper over the summer and come back. your baseline domination is YOUR game.

Hartman~ slow clap. I'm so impressed with your basketball IQ and determination. It overwhelms your lack of athletism

JBJ~ Shake it off.....And look to pass as you are dribbling in the lane.

ROJO~ silent but deadly

Zman~ You deserved to play  more last night.

Stan~ ummmm...defense

If anything I saw a glimmer of leadership emerging from Troy.  Pulling JBJ into the huddle and not letting him sulf was a huge growing moment in my opinion.  That right there folks (if indeed that was the case) is a HUGE turning point for this team.

You know they want to win badly.  This is a dramatic change from last year.  Maturity is brewing thick.

I know we were back and forth in that game and could never gain seperation (nor could they).  Somehow, I felt that we were in complete control of that game regardless of it being on the road and against Maryland.

Dez Wells hit about 4-5 shots that were extremely well guarded but typically got the roll on each one.  Like for example his full steam running line drive layup.  How that went in I will never know.  But that is the breaks you get at home sometimes.

Maryland was up for that game in the get go and I know that they gave it their best and they still only beat us by two.
