Welcome to the Mike Davis era

Recommended Posts

I think the most similar of the 2 is:

The fan base is splintered with some cheering for L's so that the coach gets canned.

The failure and lack of commanding respect from the fan base.

The in-ability to bring back RMK to heal open wounds and de-splinter said fan base.

Inability to be taken serious or as great coach from major media outlets.

What else am I missing?

This again?

Not time for it yet---we are 1st place in the Big Ten and 13-4.

All goals are in reach----we had less than 24 hours to prepare without Perea.

I'll give the team a pass because we got the win-----I'm already thinking about the Illini.

I am thinking about them too knowing this could be brutal trying rebound and get stops on them in the paint.  PSU outscored us 46-26 in the paint tonight and Illinois has better 3 shooters than PSU so it could be a lethal combo if we allow them to get on a roll at their place.

Old people who won't stand up.

No wait, that was Sampson.

You gotta admit it is kinda comical, Colin Hartman is our center. LOL :)

It is shocking---it has to freak the other teams out.

Can you imagine Hartman when Crean first told him to go in at the 5.

"You want me to do what?"

Knowing Hartman----it was probably more like----"Sure---how many rebounds do you want me to get?"

This is the Mike Davis era all over again. Play down to our competition, lose some games that we shouldn't lose, beat some ranked teams at home, finish on the bubble and lose in the tourney.

This is what we are at this point and for the foreseeable future. I have seen intramural teams with more size than this team has. It is year 7, and we are playing Colin Hartman at center. I get that Hanner got hurt, but it's Creans responsibility to have a backup in place.

I wish I could be happy about the win tonight, but I just can't knowing where this program is.

Yes. Good post. The similarities in offensive style and inefficiencies, as well as lack of decent roster management year to year, and terrible defense over the last year and a half of the Davis years. In my opinion the Davis results weren't acceptable then, and they aren't acceptable now.

As far as offense I feel like we;ve seen the same offense from Davis, Sampson, and Crean. The only reason Sampson had any success here was because of Gordon. If all else failed in the offense they could pass the ball to EJ and he would make something happen.

I give Crean one edge: he does recruit kids from Indiana. Not all the players, but more than Davis did. It doesn't matter who you recruit at IU as long as you win-win-win. But when you don't, you'd better have some native sons on the floor or be looking for employment. Davis was never able to do that, Thad Matta was always taking the Indiana kids from him. Much like Izzo and Beilein seem to be doing to Crean.

That doesn't mean I didn't love D.J. White in a Hoosier uni.
