I really think Crean passed on Gustys because hes "bulky." Tom Pritchard was only here because Sampson signed him.

Did he end up here and play that position? We took NV instead,put him on the perimeter to shoot threes and now we are counting on a freshman who was headed to prep school to be our inside presence. Besides,isnt Anya more of a power forward?

My mistake. I meant Goodluck O. My point was "never having a true center while Crean is here" would only be the case if Crean doesn't try to recruit one, but he does.

 

Heading to Prep school, doesn't mean a guy isn't any good. I'd venture to say he was a lot like Gustys, who was only being recruited by the likes of Hofstra, Rhode Island and UAB. Holt didn't want to play at one of those type schools so he was headed to prep school to showcase for the big boys, because he was confident he had the talent. Gustys, on the other hand, accepted an offer from a small school.

 

Noah had real trouble getting AND holding position so it wasn't just a matter of dumping the ball in to him. He took about 7 official shots a game and 1 of those were 3's. If he was hitting 17 foot jumpers no one would give a hoot, but put him 30 inches farther away and change the name of the shot and now it's detrimental, even though he hit about half of them.

Funny, should we list all the misses in recruiting other coaches make? Its the norm. They all miss, some by not getting them to sign, some by signing them.

That is a good point. I never realized it until now. Look at every big guy Crean has recruited they are all long skinny.

Someone reading these posts sure wouldn't guess we're tied for 1st in the Big Ten and on the verge of being ranked in the top 25 again.

 

We're 13-4 with a lot of room to improve-----welcome to the Big Ten----there's going to be a lot of tough--close games!

Man, I'm sitting here trying to go back via transfers,  NBA, etc. on how we got so small as a team. 

 

It just doesn't look like a BIG team size wise compared to every other BIG team.

Certainly concerned about this next recruiting class. We all are. A lot of pressure is going to be on Crean this March
