So who's going to be the new Coach next year?

Recommended Posts

The worst part of the whole thing, at least for us, is let's say the decision has been made to find a new coach (heck, it could have been made when everything came out a couple weeks ago) if everything is done right then we won't know about it until the spring. If they're handling the transition and search correctly we should have zero idea that anything has changed at all. We'll continue to impotently get angry and make suggestions and debate what could happen all while everything is already happening behind the scenes.

nothing is happening behind the scenes. Sad but true

I feel the same, but it will be better than the "committee" that helped last time. Or the former AD and President that were just as bad as the tool who fired Knight. We have lacked great leadership for a long time at Indiana. No wonder we haven't gotten it right...politics and race played large roles unfortunately.

Not to derail, but what's the problem with Glass in your opinion? Regardless of what he's telling the media right now in regards to Crean, he has done FAR more for IU athletics than many realize.

May or may not be true. What is fact is that there are a good group of folks with deep pockets that have grown VERY impatient and aren't getting any younger.

Look at the ridiculous contract he gave to Crean and his unwavering support for dead man walking. He goes down with the tan man just like Michigans AD. He's all in and no going back. In his defense he has done good things, but at IU only one thing matters and he's pickedhis dance partner.

This might not be so popular but what about coach Beilein?  UM recruits the state extremely well, he's had a recent trip to a title game, and he's won the B1G 2 out of the last 3 years.  He's not a young up and comer but I think he could win and win big at IU.

Just trying to add a little more to the debate.

Can you imagine the complaints about living and dying by the 3? Oh my.

Oh, do you work behind the scenes?

not at IU:) just know someone that is tied to all of that and he confirmed that Glass is going to live it die with Crean at this point and he and others that would be talking to coaches/putting feelers out are not. Until Glass says go... Nothing is happening

In my mind Donavon is a bigger pipe dream than Stevens. Hes walked away from the money in the NBA, and returned to Florida. Hoiberg is good, but he is at his alma mater. I like Shaka and Marshall. Even investigate Miller. Bennet would be a good option. We need a coach, thats certain. This tram is not ready to do any damage in conference play.

I'd love to have Donovan but I agree with you that it's probably a pipe dream!

Does your buddy have any clue what it would take to have Glass give the green light?

Appreciate your feedback and inline with my thinking. Glass will be a package firing; a fresh start for football and basketball and the new Assembly Hall. I'm old school but we need a new one.

the guy is probably pushing 70, he is my dad's friend. He is careful not to say too much, but to answer your question, I do not know. He said this several weeks back when the Crash and failed drug test crap happened. I doubt this one loss was the tipping point.

Loss (and bad play in the wins) and a recruit's mom saying she doesn't trust the program.

Not that I think that pushed them if the others didn't, but to me, Bryant's mom's comments are huge.

Someone said it earlier and it wasn't well received but if we want a guy that can recruit like no one else and can coach like no one else, why not look at a guy like Gino Auriema? Basketball is a universal language.

On a more popular note, would like to see a consideration set of Donovan, Marshall and Stevens. If we get one of those I think we are in great shape
