schoosier Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Schoosier---I did see a few to HMP and Troy last year------but would certainly like to see more! Yogi's mom claims he and HMP have a special oop connection so maybe if HMP can stay on the floor we will see a lot of that!My recollections of Troy's big dunks are coming off acrobatic offensive rebounds although I'm sure he may have had a few driving to the basket. I don't think Hanner had more than 2-3 tops all year and don't recall any being alley oops, but I may be mistaken. One would think with Hanner's athleticism, why we aren't throwing him 3-5 alley oops per game. Back screens, high-low options. He's been way underutulized considering his skillset so maybe coach gets better at that this year too. We can always hope. rebelhoosier848891, JuwantGrimeShakes? and MikeRoberts 3 Quote

HMP always seemed to end up in foul trouble the moment he stepped on the court. That's what I really hope they've been working on with him. I don't know how we'll survive if he can't stay on the court. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 If we spread the floor with 3 point shooters---no reason we don't get more jams/oops in the middle! Go IU! Quote
schoosier Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnOIUtOXziQ Speaking of Troy this might be on the list to watch. This is what I remember not any alley oops. Troy and Hanner are such phenomenal athletes how do you not incorporate these alley oop game changing dunks into our game plan? Coach, please put these uber athletes in a position to be successful and guess what? You will be successful. Let Yogi facilitate the break and offense and pass first. Don't just let him juke and shoot the three ball cause that's what all the other coaches want him to do. Call Boeheim and learn a 2-3 zone to protect Hanner and the fact we are woefully undersized; then you may be able to play against it also. Give Rick Pitino a call to learn the full court press; no he won't help since we're playing them. Check that. Get old tapes of Pitino's UK teams or Norms Arkansas teams to speed up play to not exploit our lack of size. You can do this and Btown Banners is here to help. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Some good points there---schoosier. I want to press more too. Hope the Coach got some good ideas from all the off season film he watched! Quote

Walking Boot of Doom Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 We should see much less of Yogi shooting and much more facilitating this year. Yogi was the only person who could shoot the ball last year so it put the pressure on him to shoot more than he'll need to this year. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet. Kepner Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Call Boeheim and learn a 2-3 zone We played a pretty successful zone last year and they used it pretty exclusively in Canada as well. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Really hope we can pull a rabbit out of the hat with Thomas Bryant! He would compliment our current team in the perfect way. TELL HIM he gets a FREE trip to MAUI, HAWAII if he signs up to play for our beloved HOOSIERS!!!!!! mamasa, Walking Boot of Doom, OliviaPope40 and 3 others 6 Quote
schoosier Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 We played a pretty successful zone last year and they used it pretty exclusively in Canada as well. That's good to know. I didn't watch any of the games and have seen limited highlights. Based on our personnel, I think we will be forced to play a zone although I don't think it needs to be 2-3 exclusively. Troy out top on some type of trapping defense with Hanner and Devin down low may also find some success. This gets Troy out on a break where he excels in transition. mamasa and rebelhoosier848891 2 Quote

hoosierpap Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 What do you know Pap? Nothing, except he comes to town this weekend. The visit could get IU into the conversation going forward. Everyone knows the Syracuse and Mizzou ties are strong and a visit is about all I can see changing that. Alabaster Thunder, Napleshoosier, OliviaPope40 and 3 others 6 Quote
