Which former player or current player has not lived up to your expectations?

This could mean on or off the court, their potential or expectations?

So many ways to take on this conversation but none the less it should be a good one.

Current player is Stan Robinson, although he could change my opinion as early as this month. BUT he started as a 40-50 rated player before transferring for his senior season. Played second fiddle to Nigel Williams Goss for a year and nearly dropped out of top 100. Started slow. Teased us with improvements and some effectiveness. Off court issues have been entirely disappointing.

I still have High, pun intended, hopes for Stan going forward. I hope he doesn't waste this opportunity.

He could be a great success story if he can be straightened out because his knack for driving and scoring is uncanny.

It's gotta be Hollowell for me. The (Bowel) Movement was the first time I really got into recruiting so I watched his highlights all the time and thought we had the 2nd coming of Melo.

Fischer was disappointing as well. He was going to be a beast, but it just didn't work out.

Marshall Strickland comes to mind too. He was a decent player or even slightly above average but I wanted to like him so much. Seemed like he had all the skills, just never quite performed to my lofty expectations. Should have been a nasty backcourt with SirShootAlot Bracey Wright.

Not the biggest disappointment but I was really hyped about Marshall.

There are a couple that come to mind quickly. From an on the court "not living anywhere near the expectations" angle, I’d have to say Hollowell. The reasons are many, and have been delineated already in this thread.

The others that quickly come to mind are Devan Dumes for his issues with drugs, weapons charges, etc and Sherron Wilkerson for his DV issues that got him run from Knight's program.

Current players that are on my list include Yogi who, as a leader, should have known better and Stan for his repeat performances with alcohol and drugs.

Can confirm. He is nuts on 2k....

Not at all surprised. I hope he lives up to that potential in the real world.

Maybe I'm just bitter because after the Hornets game last night Zeller was willing to come chill with the Alums and be his super awkward self but Vonleh didn't show. Probably because his butt fell asleep.

Could also be an indication of the 2s relationship

I love Vonleh and his game, but we all know that we were the formality on his path to the league. Wish we could've had more success while he was here. Unfortunately, my last memory will always be of him wearing a white tshirt under a cream jersey. :(

What a fizzle-out Edwards had. He really should have been great.

Everyone else seems to be saying current era players though? So...

Noah Vonleh. Disappointing year with the Hoosiers. Skips out on later games to be safe going into the draft. Badmouths the program. Has a worse draft pick than he would have with a year of conditioning. And now rides the pine while watching an IU player who understood so much better tear up the boards. He'll eventually have his place in the NBA with his insane physical gifts (dat wingspan) but, as an IU player and as a lottery pick, he was and is absolutely underwhelming.

gotta agree with Vonleh. He could have been the best big in the country. But he didn't buy in. He didn't lead. He sat out those last few game, as far as I'm concerned. Had he stayed, he'd be a part of a fast paced offense, playing the role Cody played. I hate that he didn't buy into IU.

I don't even recognize Hollowell as a former player. He never was one.

As far as on the court I will go with Andre Patterson.Physical beast that never reached his potential, except for one game in the preseason NIT against Duke where he went insane.

Off the court  Stan is really trying to grab top honers but the prize goes to Todd Leary hands down.Smoking Reefer is against the law but  Grand Larceny and Fraud are both despicable crimes.

Completely with you guys on Vonleh as a recent player. Dude just came here to be the big fish in the sea. Quite honestly he was too lazy to play like Cody on the break. He mostly just lumbered down the court instead of taking off like a greyhound as Cody would. So many tools. How did Cody get utilized so much but then Vonleh didnt? Maybe because Cody got after it and Vonleh was a quiet but slightly entitled player or personality.

This is unrealistic but my favorite player of all time is also on my bust list. Damon Bailey as much as I hate to say it. I had that dude built up to smoke Jordan when I was 8 years old, lol. Don't get me wrong, he was killer but started to become average towards the end. I remember he lost his shot towards the end of the senior season and I was so aggravated that my hero was being overtaken by Pat Knights deep ball. Lol oh to be so young and ignorant again towards the game, haha.

Hollowell is a good one too. Dude would be our star right now if he could move off idle at any point. Size and rebounding.. oh what this team would be right now Vonleh and Hollowell at the "4 and 5".

But whatever, I want guys with hearts of lions like Vic and Jordy.
