AJ Ratliff was a total disappointment. He was so hyped up in media, but Courtney Lee and George Hill turned out to be the guys in that class.

Luke Recker is a good one. Funderburke for sure.

Jeremy Hollowell, I wouldn't be surprised if he still made the pros out of Georgia State. I really wouldn't. Something happened to that kid, maybe it was the pot, who knows.. but he has real natural ability. It's too bad it didn't come together for him at all at IU. He put in the extra work, but he never clicked with his teammates. At LC, he was the team. He didn't seem to adjust well to coming off the bench.

I disagree on Hollowell. I think he was just overrated. While he has some skills, he's not great at any one thing. He's an average at best shooter, average at best ball handler, averaged defender, he's an average athlete, doesn't finish at the rim, he's an ok rebounder. He just doesn't do any one thing particularly well IMO. Guys like that don't usually pan out.

Fair enough, and that certainly describes his performance at Indiana. I was really referring to his proven ability prior to college. In seeing him countless times, I never walked away thinking that he played lazily or without passion. He just has that look on his face.

He had no confidence as a shooter and I don't have an answer as to why. He was an excellent shooter for a 4 man coming in. His ball handling needed work but he had shown an ability to drive the basketball against good defenders. Again, he was nothing close to that at IU. Defensively he had strides to make but personally I think he has some athleticism in his body. It doesn't jump off the screen like Oladipo, but he made some big plays in his two years at the basket.

Really disappointing that his career was essentially nothing. He could've done some special things. Good kid. Immature decision making doomed him.

I think hollowell was just bummed that the whole program wasn't centered around him like it was at lc and that the coaches didn't baby him he showed potential a few times but IMO reality hit him at iu and it got in his head that he wasn't the best player on the team. He came in on a loaded team and when everyone was gone the team was yogis and I think that pissed him off

I think he was affected much more than we know when Patterson screwed the pooch. They were extremely close.

Fans often underestimate the mental side of things. We truly have no idea what any of these kids are going through. Which is why it was sickening to see comments made about removing Holt from the team.

I wish Bus Patterson would have kept his head on straight ---he has a chance to be a good player as well.

But--lost respect for him after he trash talked IU on twitter, etc.

Sure wouldn't trade our guards we have right now!

He could of helped us but yes he had of kept his head on straight.

I hope some of our players that we have now keep that lesson in mind--- Olivia----I would imagine that one or two are on a new violation policy of one more and they are gone.

That gives a whole new meaning to "One and Done" !

Hope they get it turned around and represent IU well both on and off the court!

We should have a zero tolerance policy.

Everyone has missed one of the most obvious ones - Larry Joe Bird.

Bird received a scholarship from Bob Knight to play for Indiana in 1974. After less than a month on campus, he dropped out of school, finding the adjustment between his small hometown and the large student population of Bloomington to be overwhelming. He returned home to French Lick where he worked for the city as a garbage man for a year before enrolling at Indiana State University in 1975. The rest, as they say, is history.

Hugely disappointing on the court for the Hoosiers and what might have been. Can you imagine Bird on the '75 and '76 Hoosiers with that group (Abernathy, Benson, Buckner, Crews, Green, Laskowski, May, Wilkerson, etc)?

Saw a YouTube video about Bird ( I'll try to find it later) and his ex wife said he walked by coach Knight and spoke to him and Knight never said a word to him. She said it really hurt his feelings.
