Str8Hoosiers Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 52-50.... If we play any game that low scoring we don't have a chance.... Is Minnesota overrated? Is Penn State underrated? Both teams are actually statistics wise very bad at offense and very good at Defense so I can see how that outcome would come about, but I sure hope our high powered offense can do something against them. I'm getting a kick out of it because after Minnesota beat Purdue, I had Purdue fans telling me Minnesota was a top 4 team in the league and a lock for the tournament. They gave up 92 points at home to a team that's scored 47 and 50 in its last two games. Crimson and Cream, Str8Hoosiers and HoosierAloha 3 Quote

OliviaPope40 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Speaking of Grayson here is what Pitino had to say: "I think it's a reflex, like someone throwing an elbow, because he's a highly, highly intelligent young man, so why would you do it?" Pitino said of Allen's incidents. "I think he's a terrific young man who made a mistake, made three of them. I think it's a reflex action, when he does something wrong, he'll lunge out or trip someone out." http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18474762/grayson-allen-duke-blue-devils-does-best-ignore-boos-louisville-cardinals Quote

Uspshoosier Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Just watched recording of notre dame and Virginia tech game. Very impressed with the way notre dame is playing right now. They had a huge lead and then lost it with 2 min to go on the road. Their point Farrell made winning plays down the stretch. I'm sure there are higher rated players then him but he can run my team any day. Most impressive play was with notre dame up 3, tech rolled the ball to save time and Farrell laid out and dove ( like yogi did vs Maryland) and got the ball and put them up 5. Uspshoosier Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 While turnovers and defense are noticeably holding IU back this year, not having a closer has been just as important in this rough stretch. Iu is 1-4 in games decided by 5 or less Watching the Virginia game, Perrantes took the ball and wanted the ball in winning time. Drained 2 threes and a drive in the last 3 min. Cujo may be the closest candidate on this years team. Quote
Uspshoosier Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Cujo needs to work on not getting his pocket picked at the end of a game before he thinks of closing out a game. It will have to be a upperclassman. We really miss yogi (understatement of the year) This article really shows the need for a closerhttp://www.insidethehall.com/2017/01/13/ius-lack-of-a-playmaker-hurts-in-late-clock-situations/Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Blackman, limited hops and speed. Johnson does not have the demeanor Quote

The more I watch college ball this season the more obvious the gap. - Alpha leader - Low post scorer - Lead guard- Lockdown defender - High bball IQ glue guyThere are a lot of other areas we are deficient. You won't find many teams that have all but your good to great have most. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

You won't find many teams that have all but your good to great have most. And that is the frustrating part. Even with all of these flaws they have had there chances to win those games. 1-4 in games decided by 5 or less. Clean up a couple of the areas that they are lacking and results will be better. There is still time to improve by the time march gets here and you and I know there are examples of teams getting hot after having brutal stretches throughout the year( Syracuse lost to St. John's last year, started conference play 0-4, lost 5 of their last 6 before the tournament and went to final 4). I personally didn't think they should of got an at-large but that is another discussion. Having a hall of fame coach helps out. The wife and I will be in attendance tomorrow so hopefully they can improve on some of these flaws. The only good thing about a win against Rutgers would be instead of being 3-6 against the top 150 we would be be 4-6 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ALASKA HOOSIER and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

AKHoosier Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 If Ohio State keeps losing and misses the tournament once again, I could see them making a change or Thad Matta bolting for another team. He looks like he just needs a fresh start somewhere Illinois should make a run at him. He's from the state, and he'd be an instant upgrade over Groce in recruiting and coaching.
