Crimson and Cream Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 I'm not sure if that was the designed play there but that was an awful last set by ISU thebigweave 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Boy, I think the Trees panicked a little there. That's too bad -- fun team to watch. thebigweave 1 Quote

Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Swopes got fouled on his 2nd attempt. No surprise the refs decided to swallow their whistles. But he was tackled. So much for "giving shooters space to land." Hoosier DaDa and pappy1865 2 Quote

It's honestly why I like guys like Schertz and oats but truly prefer an excellent traditional coach with a motion type offense. You didn't really need 3's there. A manufactured two would've probably won them the game. Yeah, totally agree. I get that it's their offense but you've got to have better situational awareness/discipline as a player to understand with a 3 point lead and 22 seconds on the shot clock with a 1:20 left in the game, that the clock is your friend, and work for a better look (manufactured two ideally) or at least get the same shot with less time on the clock by moving the ball. It could have been a dagger but it also completely flipped the game on it's head. 6 point swing. You could see the disappointment on his face at the end sadly Quote

Those missed threes early in the shot clock are killers. Coach needs to make that adjustment to his offense. I think a similar thing happened in the MVC tourney. pappy1865, thebigweave and Home Jersey 3 Quote
Home Jersey Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Absolutely fantastic game. Two teams that deserved to be in the big dance. Two great seasons regardless of tonight's outcome. Nice to see Shaheen pick Avila's chin up at the end there in the handshake line. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Can't really change who you are with 2min in the season left. Space and open 3's drive those offenses and the analytics don't really tell you to pass up open 3's from good shooters. They were basically the same shots that put them up 7 with 3 to go. That's not to say I disagree with you guys. My previous post made that clear I hope. But all those shot charts of Alabama that show literally only 3's and layups attempted don't happen by accident. It's what the players are taught to hunt all season. Great game. Sad for the trees fans. Still a good story. Home Jersey, pappy1865 and thebigweave 3 Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 I was watching the game and got a call with Indiana State up 77-70. Mid call I looked and saw that Seton Hall had won 79-77. Worse was that I couldn't even rewind on youtube tv because it had switched to the slam dunk program. What happened?? RoadRage 1 Quote

TTT Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Around 2:57 to go in the game it was 77-70. Indiana State had just made back to back 3 balls. Seton Hall called T.O. Coach Swertz should have had team to milk clock and go to the bucket for layup or kick out for 3 ball. Instead Indiana State simply came down and shot 3 ball way to early in shot clock and did not score and was out scored 9-0 to end the game. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Both respectable coaches. That 3 attempt up 77-70 with 16 left on the shot clock turned the tide. Not saying they couldnt or shouldn’t have overcame it, but I had the feeling as soon as he clanked it, it might go that way as the basketball gods punishing a low IQ play. Great run by a fun team. Shame they didn’t finish. But respect either way. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Home Jersey, thebigweave and pappy1865 3 Quote
